What travelers are saying
- J_travelBGuelph, Canada1,360 contributionsBeautiful gardens, and strongly suggest you use the tour guides that are at the gardens as they know what each plant and tree is for and can explain their uses, both traditional and modern. This is the oldest botanical gardens in the Caribbean and has breadfruit tree that is the descendant of the one brought by captain Bligth. Trees here have been planted by the Royal family during their visits.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amanda WOxford, England1,117 contributionsSteep road up. Lovely views once you get there over to the port, leper pool, mountains and coast-side food processing factory. Canons point inland to defend against inland attack. Has been a leper colony, mental hospital and prison. Is now home to Fort Charlotte Light and coastguard. Although there are a lot of walls there isn't any information so don't need to spend long here.Written July 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SMiddlesbrough, UK1,751 contributionsJust off the main road running down from the cruise terminal (about 15 minutes walk), despite looking a little worse for wear from a distance, this is a magnificent, almost gothic style, building with lovely architecture and a scenic flowered courtyard and water feature. Very atmospheric and charming inside. Should not be missed.Written March 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mel CNew Glasgow, Canada2 contributionsThis is a great beach. It can be very dangerous, however.
A man drowned when we were there .
St Vincent is wonderful but still very 3rd world in ways.
They left the poor guy on the beach with the waves lapping over him for over 2 hrs.Written March 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Looking more somewhat modern than its rustic neighbour, it's a large atmospheric site with lovely stain glass windows and lots of tranquillity and charm.Written March 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ScoAberdeen, UK4,123 contributionsBest to get out of the capital to places like this. The greenery and the sea. A fairly rugged coastline, with lovely small bays. Sometimes the island is better to be viewed from the sea on a boat or catamaran.Written February 17, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SMiddlesbrough, UK1,751 contributionsThe market place is very close to the cruise terminal. Really the market is totally manic but well worth the chance to visit. The market seems to cover much of this particular area of Kingston. People are everywhere chatting, selling and bartering. My wife and I walked from one end to the other and back again. We never felt anything other than safe and were welcomed warmly. An authentic atmospheric experience indeed.Written March 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- lakelover908Kendal, UK1,161 contributionsWas made very welcome at this church which is under restoration. Has lovely galleried sections. Quite colourful. It is in need of funds to bring it back to its former glory.Written March 16, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KipsRotherham, UK465 contributionsBeach is split into two and the first beach you see has a Sandals resort being built upon it. Walking over across the car park to the other side there are a couple of restaurants. Then the next beach is before you. Umbrellas/sunbeds are all there and it's a decent sandy beach too. Theres a large undercover gazebo with a young lady cooking homemade BBQ chicken with her own sauce and it's very nice. For $10 you get a couple of pieces, along with Caribbean style rice and peas and fresh salad. Beers and juice etc. It's absolutely lovely. We got there early and took full advantage, the beach did fill up about midday.Written February 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SSComptonBarbados58 contributionsThis is one of my favorite beach-areas to visit. Lovely park, great for any occasion. The scenery is quite majestic, especially atop the slight hill overlooking the man-made pond. Set against the atlantic ocean the pond allows you to relax and enjoy the beautiful chaos of the rowdy atlantic sea.Written August 7, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jill HWilliamsville, United States134 contributionsRestaurant staff was friendly especially Miss Rosalee. Food was ok at the French veranda but misnamed, no French food unless you count French fries. Most of the food was fried or grilled. The breakfasts were good though and there was continental, American and Carib style.
The room we had was not at all like the one that was pictured on the web page that we requested. It really needed maintenance. Woodwork needed repainting, door frame was warped, the balcony also needed work as well. It was clean though. Beach was not like the web page either, there actually was very little beach at all. A bit disappointing to say the least.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
