      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A revelatory tribute to the B-movie maverick, King Cohen: The Wild World of Filmmaker Larry Cohen is a gem for cinephiles, even though it could've used a dash of the King's own chutzpah.

Audience Member "Larry Cohen is like the white Martin Luther King for movies. He kicked the door completely off its hinges when it came to the Black character." — Yaphet Kotto Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review brad p ‘King Cohen: The Wild World of Filmmaker Larry Cohen' is Fascinating and Inspiring Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary is a pleasure to watch, with so many ‘names' joining in to showcase the career of Mr Larry Cohen. The film starts off with the screen being filled by JJ Abrams who tells a story about when he was 15, how he met Larry Cohen and helped him get to a meeting with Sidney Poitier and from then on.We learn so many more stories from the likes of Martin Scorsese, Mick Garris, Traci Lords, and so many more that I wont mention or this this will turn into a list that fills the page. But the one person we definately enjoy hearing these stories from is Larry Cohen himself, who takes us through his earlier years and gives us a feature lengh tour through a career that spans decades. Heart warming, inspirational, and a pleasure to watch. that would be my short pitch to advise you to check out King Cohen and whether you are a film fan or not a film fan, this documentary is for you. If you've ever felt that you need a ‘spark' to get you back on track, then this is the one for you. (yes YOU) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I won’t pretend to know what made Cohan so classic, and this documentary brings a person like me up to speed! Not everyone translates in our society and this documentary does this for Hollywood’s treasure. I’m glad his life gets this tribute treatment. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/06/20 Full Review Audience Member It's about time Larry Cohen had a documentary made about him,his films are low budget classics and are more original than most big Hollywood movies I am a big fan of The Stuff and Q the Winged Serpent and it's great to see there creator get his rich reward.
