What happened between Steve Hackett and Kim Poor?

In the earlier Steve Hackett biography "Sketches of Hackett" by Alan Hewitt, not much info is given about Steve and Kim splitting up. In the 19th Chapter of the book, the divorce is covered mostly in this paragraph:

"Sadly, his marital relationship saw Steve and his wife leading even more independent existences and they divorced in 2007. Steve was fortunate to have already met Joanna Lehmann who is now his partner: "Fortunately, I met Jo, who has been a wonderful support for my family and me."

Like most divorces, it's a shame to see happy pictures of a past relationship and then realize that said relationship didn't work out. What happened with Steve and Kim? To be fair, I haven't read Steve's new autobiography yet.

Steve talks very little about their relationship in his book and really says nothing about their personal problems. I think he is probably just respecting Kim and not taking about it. To be honest he never really opens up a lot with real personal stuff besides his childhood, except a few things later on with family I’m guessing Steve is really guarded about real personal stuff.

He's also respecting himself, and his right to privacy when it comes to intimate details of his personal life, just as many of us would be. If I had a painful divorce from my partner of many years, and a stranger wanted to know what happened, they'd get a middle finger from me.

I don't think he can say anything, or Kim would have his ass on a plate. Their split was not a happy one, and there were lots of legal battles. I seem to recall reading something about the final settlements, and I suspect there are words in the agreement that prevents Steve from talking about it, particularly if it were to paint her in any sort of bad light.

Kim Poor was involved with SH's music and I would say it was more of a business squabble IMO because she really went to town with their finances.

I remember reading an interview by Kim where she used the popular phrase here in Brazil, 'It was eternal while it lasted'.

Read his Wikipedia page, there's some info on their marriage and lawsuit circa 2009.

Yeah, I read that. Not much info there either.

Great read, thanks for the link.

Interesting that she mentions winter, 1975, Steve starts to hang out with the others in band after shows. They didn't hang out together before that? Was he never really a member of the band to the point of hanging out with the others?
