Meet Rajkummar Rao, The Finest Method Actor in The Indian Film Industry

Shomini Sen

Actor Rajkummar Rao, with his impeccable performances over the years, has established a status for himself of being an actor who is a perfectionist and someone who breathes life into every character he takes on.  He doesn't just play characters; he becomes them.

His projects such as Bose: Dead/Alive, Shahid, Trapped or the upcoming film Srikanth are proof of how the actor truly deserves to be called the most versatile performer of Bollywood.

Srikanth

During 'Srikanth', which features Rao as the blind industrialist Srikanth Bolla, Rao would refuse to come out of the character during the whole shoot. The crew would help/guide him to walk from point A to point B.

Bose: Dead/Alive

In Bose: Dead/Alive, the actor gained 13 kgs and shaved his head half, something that most of the actors would use prosthetics for.

Trapped

In Trapped, he stopped eating for 2 weeks and lost 7kgs. The film was helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane

Omerta

The film was helmed by Hansal Mehta and playing the character took a toll on Rao as a person. In fact, he went so much deep into the character that when his wife Patralekhaa met him, she said that the actor wasn't himself. She left saying that he didn't have 'Raj’s energy', but had the character's energy.
