Rangers’ injury list is now streaming out the door, after yesterday’s fraught cup win over Hibs.

Scans will confirm the extent of Ross McCausland and Dujon Sterling’s latest knocks, but we’re not expecting good news at all. Add a brand new injury to Ryan Jack, and it’s not the best updates.

In better news though, Kemar Roofe has managed to get through a few cameos now, and as well as running hard at Easter Road so that’s positive, while Tom Lawrence also seems to be gaining more and more strength despite his history.

Furthermore, Rabbi Matondo is finally out of his latest setback and made a cameo in Edinburgh too.

So the raft of injuries is ever-evolving.

From what we understand, as things are, the injuries look like this:

Ryan Jack, Todd Cantwell, Danilo, Alex Lowry, Ross McCausland, Scott Wright, Oscar Cortes, Dujon Sterling, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell.

It’s effectively a full XI, give or take.

But the returns of Kemar Roofe, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo are helpful for sure.

As we discussed in the last piece, Philippe Clement is taking risks with some players, high risk high reward.

We got a place in the semis for our trouble, but it basically cost Sterling and McCausland. That’s the strategy this manager is sticking with – he will take big calls on vulnerable players, weighing up the risk with the reward.

And Clement decided the semis of the cup were worth Sterling and McCausland.

Could it have impact down the line? Maybe – time will tell. Clement has a staggering knack of getting as much out of his reserve players as he does from his main senior squad, so we could end up down to Kieran Wright and Cole McKinnon and somehow still win the league, Europa League and Scottish Cup!

Either way, Clement has his hands full with the numbers of injuries we have.

One or two of them were arguably preventable.
