And José Francisco, Fininho, from Paraíba, who has lived in Florianópolis for many years, wrote his name in the extensive gallery of champions from Santa Catarina inaugurated in 1980, well before the Brazilian Professional Circuit was started 7 years later.

The Santa Catarina Surf Federation is an example for all of Brazil, as the most organized and the one that most promotes high-level competitions in all categories, from the basics, through the professional, to the masters that brings together the surfers who made the sport history. Santa Catarina is also the state that has hosted the most World Tour events in Brazil, since the unforgettable Hang Loose Pro Contest and Op Pro, which overcrowded Praia da Joaquina in the 1980s.

Environmental preservation – One of the differentials of Fecasurf’s new management, since when Renato Melo was elected to the presidency, in addition to rescuing a strong professional circuit as it was in the past, is the concern with environmental preservation in its events. “With the aim of showing society the efforts of associations and promoters that aim to hold events within a sustainability standard, Fecasurf created the Sustainable Event Seal, attesting to the good socio-environmental practices of the event, offering qualification, auditing and benefits of marketing for the associations/promoters that join the program”, highlights Reinaldo Langer Jaeger.

In addition to the environmental control of the event and the launch and promotion of the Sustainable Event Seal, Floripa Pro Joaquina Stage will have the support of some institutions, to carry out actions of awareness, awareness and socio-environmental education for the public that attends the beach. Partnerships were signed with Instituto Anjos do Mar (IAMB), Ambiens Sustentabilidade and Sea Shepherd Brasil, which will promote social and environmental education activities and beach cleaning, during the three days of the event and even after the end of the competition, so that Joaquina be cleaner than before.
