Zamalek hit with another transfer ban over Boutaïb unpaid dues

Cairo giants, Zamalek have announced that FIFA have imposed a new transfer ban on the club until they settle the outstanding dues owed to former striker Khalid Boutaïb.

The Federal Court in Switzerland rejected Zamalek's appeal against the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision, which ordered the club to pay 2.4 million euros to the Moroccan player after unilaterally terminating his contract in 2020.

In an official statement on Wednesday, Zamalek confirmed the transfer ban and expressed their commitment to resolving the matter.

Boutaïb joined Zamalek in January 2019 from Turkish side Maltayspor, following his strong performance with Morocco in the 2018 World Cup.

However, he struggled to establish himself at the club due to a persistent knee injury, leading the former club president to terminate his three-and-a-half-year contract after just one year.

Boutaïb filed a complaint with FIFA against the club, and he emerged victorious in his case.

This is not the first time Zamalek has faced a transfer ban.

Last year, the club was hit with a similar ban, but the new management was able to lift it by fulfilling their financial obligations towards other clubs and players.
