kevyn aucoin Beauty & The Beast In Me
is a documentary film from Putti Media and producer/director Lori Kaye
about the life of renowned makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin.

From Putti Media and producer/director Lori Kaye KEVYN AUCOIN Beauty & The Beast In Me
is an extraordinary documentary about the life of renowned makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin. In the 1980s,
Kevyn rose from nothing to become the most sought after fashion and celebrity makeup artist ever. He was a key creative player in the pop culture storm that became the supermodel era of the 1990s. Soon after, celebrities began to seek him out and he was confidante, friend and speed dial necessity for
A-listers in music and film. He became a celebrity himself with three best-selling books, Oprah appearances, numerous profiles and his own line of makeup. He used his celebrity to fight for gay rights and acceptance. He died tragically at age 40 in 2002.

At the heart of the film is a treasure trove of found footage: hundreds of hours of personal video and audiotapes that Kevyn recorded throughout his life and career. The never-before-seen archival footage takes us behind the scenes of iconic, intimate and uncensored moments in 1980s and 1990s fashion with the celebrated photographers, models and actresses of the era. There are also many beautiful and poignant personal moments that help tell the story of Kevyn’s extraordinary life.

As seen through Kevyn’s own lens, his is the story of a phenomenal artistic gift nearly extinguished by
gay persecution in his southern hometown. We witness his rise to become the most sought after celebrity makeup artist of his time while battling the unhealed “primal wound” of his adoption as well as an undiagnosed rare disease. Kaye’s film delves into why someone who was able to achieve all of his dreams and help create so much beauty struggled to see the beauty within himself... and why he so desperately sought love, even though love was all around him.

Interviews with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valetta, Andie MacDowell, Paulina Porizkova, Lorraine Pascale and candid conversations with colleagues, family, friends and lovers supplement Kevyn’s own footage to help create the moving narrative of his journey. The film transports viewers to a time when supermodels ruled the earth and hooks them with rare access into Kevyn’s extraordinary life.
