Kevin Durant was born September 29, 1988, in Washington D.C. where he was raised by his mother, Wanda, and his grandmother, Barbara Davis. Durant is accompanied by two brothers and one sister in his family and his father, Wayne, was in and out of his life as a child. After dominating the high school ranks in the D.C. area, Durant selected the University of Texas to play his college basketball. Durant would spend one year at Texas where he won the Naismith, Rupp, and Wooden awards as the best player in the country and was headed toward the NBA.

Durant would become the second overall pick of the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2006 NBA Draft.
