Suns Forward Kevin Durant Could Return Very Soon

The Phoenix Suns need Kevin Durant back on the court as soon as possible. His return could be coming soon, says The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Kevin Durant's tenure with the Phoenix Suns has already seen some highs and lows.

Durant led the Suns to a 3-0 record during his first set of games with the team, playing as if he was never held back from injury and forming arguably the top duo in the league with shooting guard Devin Booker by his side.

Yet much of Durant's introduction has been spoiled by injury - he arrived still healing from a sprained MCL and injured his ankle just over an hour before his home debut at the Footprint Center.

There was some concern that Durant could miss the rest of the season. Now, there's hope that he could be back before the end of the month.

"Kevin Durant is doing more and more on the court, I would expect evaluations later this week. I think there would eventually be an update later this week and early next week when they re-evaluate him and see exactly how much progress he's made," said FanDuel TV's Shams Charania.

"There's optimism within the Suns. They're gonna be cautious but they are hopeful he's going to be back in the lineup before the end of March, potentially early April. The goal was always 2-3 weeks, in that range. They're going to be cautious, they know the best time for him is playoff time, so making sure he's 100% and not rushing him back, I think that will be a priority as well.

Durant was inititally given a three-week timetable for re-evaluation, which would give him just six games left in the regular season in a best case scenario.

The Suns are back in action on Wednesday when they're hosted by the Los Angeles Lakers
