I have tried a few different food delivery services in the past but none since starting keto because that’s never been an option. Thankfully the keto diet is taking the world by storm and companies are beginning to pay attention (now if we could only get that pesky government food pyramid shut down).
Keto Meal Delivery: My Thoughts
Green Chef is the only company I know of that offers keto meal kits. Green Chef is a USDA-certified organic meal kit company that delivers everything you need to make delicious home-cooked meals in just about 30 min.
The keto meal kits contain three recipes (2 servings of each) for a total of six meals.
I noticed on Facebook that some people were complaining about the high number of carbs per meal, but you have to remember that you can modify the meals to meet your personal goals. Some of us (myself included) are in a maintenance phase where we happily eat more veggies than we did when we started keto. Does it make more sense for them to give enough vegetables to feed the maintenance folks or to include less to please the people on a stricter keto? Be nice to us; we want our veggies! 😉
I love how Green Chef listens to their customers because as I mentioned above the customers have lots to say about both veggies and fat content, and to that Green, Chef says “we’re listening!”. My three meals are listed below (along with the nutrition info). I can tell you these meals were freaking delicious and my children loved them too. We all shared because the servings are pretty generous. My kids said if keto always tasted that fancy they’d never complain. I’m calling their bluff though because they are pretty skilled complainers (we’re working on that).
Keto Meal Delivery – The Food
– Merguez Chicken (450 calories: 15g fat / 19g carbs / 55g protein)
– Mustard-Roasted Pork (400 calories: 19g fat / 14g carbs / 39g protein)
– Dill-Caper Sole Roulades (470 calories: 32 g fat / 15g carbs / 30g protein)
I have to be honest; I loved preparing these meals as much as I enjoyed eating them. As a mom of four, whose husband has been gone for more than 60 days it was nice having meals put together for me. Sure I had to do some dicing, slicing, and chopping but that’s the fun part. I used to pretend that I had my own cooking show as a kid (okay and I still do it when no one’s around) and this is as close as you get to have a cooking show without having one. I mean when’s the last time you came into the kitchen and everything was ready to organize and ready to be assembled? I love it!
