Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has explained why he celebrated when he scored against his former team Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 32-year-old forward found the back of the net when the Buccaneers humiliated Masandawana 3-1 in the MTN8 semi-finals at the Peter Mokaba Stadium last month.

ERASMUS ON CELEBRATING AGAINST SUNDOWNS

“I knew I’d score against Sundowns and when I celebrated, it was because of the emotions that I felt was unjust towards me,” Erasmus told SA FM.

“I didn’t plan it, I didn’t think about it, it just happened. It wasn’t for anybody but the joy and the happiness of all the hard work I put in behind the closed doors and it finally paid off.”

The Port Elizabeth-born star went on to reveal that he wasn’t happy with how things ended with Bafana Ba Style.

ERASMUS – IT WAS A BIT DISRESPECTFUL

“It wasn’t a tough decision to rejoin Pirates. I was disappointed how things ended at Sundowns. It was a bit disrespectful. They tried to move me somewhere I didn’t want to go. I wasn’t even given reasons why I wasn’t playing” – Kermit Erasmus said on SAFMSportOn as quoted by Makonco Media.

“I’m not going to say where they wanted to loan me. But I didn’t want to go there. As far as Chiefs is concerned there was never any interest from them. It was just talk on social media but there was no offer. I even called John [Comitis] to find out if they had approached Downs, he said, ‘No’.

“When Pirates found out that I was available, they wasted no time in signing me. And who would say no to Pirates. It was a no brainer and like they said Once a Pirates Always a Pirates.”
