As the 2023-24 NBA season quickly approaches, the 76ers inked a deal with veteran wing Kelly Oubre Jr. on Tuesday.

- Oubre, now 27, grew up in New Orleans before moving to Richmond, Texas, outside of Houston following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
- He played basketball at George Bush High School in Fort Bend, Texas before spending his senior season at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada.
- Oubre was a five-star recruit who scored 11 points and made the game-sealing free throws in the 2014 McDonald’s All-American Game, which also featured Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns.
- The 6-7 lefty committed to the University of Kansas for the 2014-15 college season.
- New 76ers teammate Joel Embiid, as well as Andrew Wiggins, left Kansas for the NBA prior to the season.
- Oubre played in all 36 games (27 starts) for the eventual Big 12 regular season champions, who went 27-9 overall and 13-5 in the conference.
- An All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and Big 12 All-Newcomer Team selection, the freshman averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 21.0 minutes per game in his lone season as a Jayhawk.
- The Atlanta Hawks selected Oubre with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and traded him to the Washington Wizards as part of a three-team deal.
- In 527 career NBA games (202 starts) with Washington, Phoenix, Golden State, and Charlotte, Oubre holds averages of 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 25.8 minutes per game.
- Since his first two seasons, Oubre has averaged double figures scoring each year since 2017.
- Oubre arrives in Philadelphia after posting a career-high 20.3 points per game with the Charlotte Hornets last season.
- During the 2021-22 NBA season, Oubre connected on a career-high 10 3-pointers (10-15 3fg) en route to a 39-point outing off the Hornets’ bench in a win over the Indiana Pacers in late January. The performance marked the fourth player in NBA history to record double-digit 3-pointers in a game as a reserve.
- Earlier that month, he became just the fifth player in NBA history to make eight 3-pointers in a single quarter with his eruption in the final period against Detroit, and his 24 points in the fourth quarter tied a Hornets franchise record for any quarter.
- Overall that year – his most recent full season (2021-22) – Oubre set career-highs in 3-pointers made (2.5) and attempted (7.3) per game, shot a career-best 57.8 percent from inside the arc, and was one of only 11 players in the NBA with multiple games of at least four 3-pointers and four steals.
