Summer’s almost over, which means the start of the traditional TV season. And while the ongoing Hollywood double strike delayed production for scripted originals across the industry, there’s still an avalanche of new and returning shows coming to broadcast, cable and streaming services this fall.
While we’ll have to wait longer for the return of broadcast staples like the “One Chicago” franchise, “Young Sheldon” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” networks are planning to lean on banked originals (like NBC’s “Found” and “The Irrational”), unscripted staples like NBC’s “The Voice” (with new judge Reba McEntire) and “Dancing With the Stars” returning to ABC, international acquisitions (“Sullivan’s Crossing” on The CW) and even borrowing buzzworthy shows from sibling cable networks (“Yellowstone” airing on CBS). Programming on cable and streaming services has not been as impacted by the production stoppage yet, with plenty of comedy (Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot), drama...

When you hear the phrase "fairy tale," images of Tinkerbell, glass slippers, or delightfully wicked witches might fill your head because the Walt Disney version of these centuries-old stories, where the original tales' sharp edges have been sanded off, has a firm grip on pop culture. Because of this, many of those who only read the beginning of the marketing copy for Apple TV+'s "The Changeling," which calls the show "a fairy tale for grown-ups," will be in for a surprise.
"The Changeling" channels Brothers Grimm, not Disney, and the series — inspired by the fable about fairies who steal babies for their own delight and leave doppelgangers made of twigs in twine in their place — sharpens the edges of the original story rather than dulls them.

A third film in the Marvel Comics-inspired Venom franchise started filming back in June, and Sony Pictures is aiming to get Venom 3 into theatres sometime in October of 2024. Which may or may not be possible, depending on how long the Screen Actors Guild strike lasts. While we wait to see how that’s going to work out, it looks like trustworthy scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed the identity of the villainous character that’s being played by Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) – and no, it’s not his Doctor Strange character Baron Mordo, since the Venom films are set in a different universe than the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
If you don’t want to know who Ejiofor is playing in Venom 3, beware Spoilers below.
According to Richtman (as reported by ComicBookMovie), Ejiofor is playing Orwell Taylor, the leader of the group known as The Jury.

Sometimes, you really should be careful what you wish for. Bookshelves all across the world are full of fairytales that have warned countless children about the dangers of sticking their nose in places they don't belong and messing with powers far beyond their understanding, but these stories typically contort themselves to wrap things up with a happy ending. But what about when adults are the ones in need of a little lesson of their own? The original Grimms' Fairy Tales took a much darker and more disturbing approach, melding fantasy with outright horror to get their point across. Well, welcome to the much more modern take on fairytales for grownups.

A few weeks ago, we heard that the Apple TV+ series The Changeling – which is not a remake of the 1980 Peter Medak horror film of the same name (which you can watch at This Link), but rather an adaptation of author Victor Lavalle’s recent novel (and you can buy a copy of Lavalle’s novel Here) – is set to premiere on Friday, September 8th. People disappear, witches are real and there are portals that have never been traveled through before in Apple TV+’s “The Changeling,” a new drama series starring Lakeith Stanfield based on the book by Victor Lavalle.
What starts off as a “boy meets girl” story ends up playing out as a terrifying nightmare. A little over 30 seconds into the trailer, Clarke Backo’s character Emma meets what appears to be a witch next a body of water in Brazil.
“She told me I had three wishes,” Emma said “When it falls off my wrist, those three wishes will come true. Do not cut it.”
But for Apollo Kagway, Lakeith Stanfield’s character, wishes and witches are only found in fairytales.
“Emma, with me…all three of your wishes will come true,” Apollo said before snapping off the red string from Emma’s wrist.
“Would you even know if you crossed into a fairytale?...

‘Venom 3‘ is right on the horizon. The first movie, starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, started the franchise with a bang that was very much a surprise. The first film felt like a throwback to those early X-Men films from the early 2000s, and while it wasn’t very good in the end, it was fun. People’s curiosity really managed to win in the end, making the film a success at the box office. The second film was a more strange case, this time directed by Andy Serkis. The film just didn’t live up to expectations. And by being released during the pandemic period, it couldn’t come close to the previous film’s performance at the box office.

A new fan trailer for Venom 3 imagines the Symbiote going up against all three live-action Spider-Men, generating excitement for the upcoming film. Venom 3 is expected to continue the multiverse aspect introduced in Spider-Man: No Way Home and may feature a crossover between Venom and Spider-Man. It remains to be seen if Venom 3 will be Tom Hardy's final appearance as Venom, but there is potential for him to continue appearing in Sony's Spider-Man Universe through TV shows.
While Eddie Brock didn't get to take part in Spider-Man: No Way Home in the way fans expected, a new Venom 3 fan trailer depicts the Symbiote against the web-crawler. The character who began Sony's Spider-Man Universe is less than a year away from finally returning as Venom 3 started production this year. “Bad Boys 4” will see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return to theaters on Father’s Day weekend on June 14, 2024. Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom is crashing the summer movie season for the first time as Sony Pictures has set a July 12, 2024, release date for its third “Venom” movie. The film is untitled at this time. Hardy’s previous two comic book tentpoles, 2018’s “Venom” and 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” both opened at the start of October. Sony’s “Venom 3” release date puts in square in the middle of Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” and Universal’s “Twisters”.
Sony has also dated the fourth “Bad Boys” movie, which will once again reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The untitled sequel will open over Father’s Day weekend on June 14, 2024. That puts the action tentpole up against Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”

The dominos started falling Friday as Sony made a number of changes to its theatrical calendar amid the actors and writers strikes, including taking Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse off its spring 2024 date.
The studio also shifted its release plans for August racing pic Gran Turismo as it scrambles to figure out another way to market the movie without stars such as Orlando Bloom and David Harbour promoting it. It will now open wide on Aug. 25, with sneak previews on its original weekend date of Aug. 11, as well as on the weekend of Aug. 18. Further out, the studio relocated Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter from October. It also dated two big films for the first time: Bad Boys 4 (June 14, 2024) and Venom 3 (July 12, 2024).

Tom Hardy is teasing the future of Venom, and it looks like Venom 3 is officially on the way.
Hardy took to Instagram and captioned ‘V3‘; the actor is with a wolf mural while the same shirt Eddie Brock had on during his multiverse journeys in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In the second Venom film, we saw Eddie Brock and Venom transported to the MCU, where the symbiote licks a TV with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Then in the post-credit scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home, we see the duo in a Mexican bar before being sent back to their universe. A small part of the symbiote was left behind in Tom Holland’s universe. There’s no word if this will connect to V3 or if the film will continue to exist in its own world.

Tom Hardy has shared the first image from the set of his upcoming comic book movie sequel, Venom 3, and it contains a clear link to the MCU outing Spider-Man: No Way Home. Taking to social media to share a black-and-white image of himself acting very Venom-esque, if you take a closer look at the clothes he’s wearing, they appear to be the exact same duds that Eddie Brock was seen wearing after landing in the MCU in the multiversal chaos that was Spider-Man: No Way Home. You can check out the new image from the filming of Venom 3 below.

Tom Hardy shares the first official Venom 3 set photo, which reveals a connection to his last appearance as Eddie Brock, in the Spider-Man: No Way Home credits scene. The franchise that helped launch Sony's Spider-Man Universe is getting closer to coming back to the big screen as filming is underway on Venom 3, with Hardy reprising the role of Eddie Brock. To this point, the story is being kept under wraps, but the movie will be directed by Kelly Marcel, who worked on the scripts of the first two movies.

After the new Kraven the Hunter trailer showed not solely the genesis of Kraven, but Rhino too, Sony is continuing their Spider-man villain-verse with the start of production on Venom 3. It was recently reported that two release dates had been reserved on the studio’s slate for two Spider-man related films. One of the dates was marked for November 8, 2024 and it was said that Sony is aiming for a release of Venom 3 for late 2024. And with that, Venom 3 has now kicked-off filming and the Eddie Brock actor, Tom Hardy, has posted a fun pic to his Instagram with a short cryptic caption to commemorate the occasion.
Tom Hardy’s Instagram posted a new photo of the actor messing with perspective with wall art of a mean-looking dog barking and Hardy is playfully screaming back at it. The only thing written in the post is “V3.”

Venom 3 appears to be putting Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote into a new, unfamiliar setting as filming begins on the threequel.
While the previous two Venom films primarily took place in San Francisco, new photos from the set of Venom 3 suggest that at least some of the movie will be set in Mexico. While filming has commenced in Cartagena, Spain, the streets of the Los Mateos neighborhood have been decorated to look like Mexican streets. As noted by Twitter user @QuidVacuo, many of the props appear to be Day of the Dead-inspired as the movie embraces Mexican culture.

Tom Hardy’s third outing as Eddie Brock in the Venom franchise looks to be aiming for an October 2024 release. Venom 3 now seems ready to finally get production going despite the ongoing writer's strike and the looming threat of an actor's strike on the horizon. A new report from Murcia Today has now revealed that filming on the threequel will be starting this coming week in Spain. According to the report, the Cartagena neighborhood of Los Mateos will play host to filming due to its resemblance to certain parts of Mexico, which is where Eddie was last seen.

Well, it seems Spider-Man might have one less foe to worry about.
“El Muerto,” part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (as it is now known) and starring international music sensation Bad Bunny as a somewhat obscure character, has been removed from the studio’s upcoming release calendar. The movie, which is scheduled to be directed by Jonás Cuarón, was originally scheduled to be released on Jan. 12, 2024.

The project has been in development since last year, when Sony brass was impressed with his performance in Brad Pitt’s “Bullet Train.” Quickly they looked for a starring vehicle for the Puerto Rican superstar and came upon El Muerto — a character known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez, who serves as a luchador and has a special mask that grants him superpowers.

Sony has just set release dates for two untitled Marvel movies.
According to Deadline, Sony recently reserved the following dates for untitled Marvel movies: Nov. 8, 2024, and June 27, 2025. Both will have access to IMAX screens. At this time, it is unknown which Sony/Marvel films will land on those dates. A recent report claimed Venom 3 would release in theaters in October 2024, but, since it is unlikely Sony would release two Marvel movies that close together, it is far more likely that the upcoming threequel will end up occupying the Nov. 8, 2024 release date. However, until Sony officially announces the release date for Venom 3, fans should take all reports with a grain of salt.
