The wife of ex-NFL star Kellen Winslow II, convicted earlier this year of raping a homeless Encinitas woman, has filed for divorce, court records show.

The Aug. 30 divorce filing comes as Winslow, 36, awaits retrial on charges of raping two other women — a hitchhiker in 2018 and a teen girl at a house party in 2003. That trial is set to begin in October.

Winslow and wife Janelle married in 2006. They have two children and had lived in Encinitas for the last few years.

The namesake son of a Chargers icon, Winslow grew up in San Diego. The younger Winslow had an NFL career, entering the league in 2004 as a first-round draft pick and earning a reported $43 million over 10 seasons.

Last year, the younger Winslow was arrested and accused of rape and other crimes that authorities said targeted women in Encinitas.

In June, a Vista Superior Court jury found him guilty of the May 2018 rape of a 54-year-old homeless woman he had befriended.

The jury also found Winslow guilty of two misdemeanors: indecent exposure for flashing a 57-year-old neighbor in May 2018 and a lewd act targeting a 77-year-old woman at a Carlsbad gym in February, an incident that occurred while he was free on bail.

The jury deadlocked on several other charges. Those are the focus of his retrial.
