Alice Cooper quit just in time. It’s amazing to read about how much he used to drink and how close he was to death.

I’m glad he turned it all around. How I wish Keith Moon could have.

u/Old_Reception_3728 avatar

His alcoholism story is very similar to Stevie Ray's. Bottomed out and found sobriety in the nick of time. Unlike Coop, Stevie made his best music post-drinking. And also unlike Alice he lost his life tragically in literally his prime. You never know what your fate is.

u/SheYeti avatar

Can you point me to AC's story? Thanks.

u/Old_Reception_3728 avatar

I'm going by what I've read over the years. I bought BIllion $ Babies when I was 15 and followed him for a good while. At one point he was addicted to Budweiser. He self admittedly drank 24 long neck buds per day for years. Crazy

super duper alice cooper will give you all the info you want on the coop(up into the 90's at least)

Yes he quit drinking just in time but picked up freebase cocaine as a replacement that nearly killed him as well. You can see video of him in a sort of vaudeville tramp look with black blush on looking more than half dead his head was like one of those bobble head toys. Thank hod he stopped by the end of the 1980’s after spending nearly all his money. He pushed it and pushed it. That club that was Harry Nilsson, Alice Cooper, Keith Emerson, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Mickey Dolenz, Bobby Keys and T. Rex where called The Hollywood vampires for a reason they where all insane hell raising drinkers/ drug users several of whom where gone too soon . There is still a cool hanging shredded piece of paper that says lair of the Hollywood Vampires pres, treasurer, secretary etc went to all the above named musicians. You know what I’ll just add the picture.

I love Mickey Dolenz, but it is kinda funny to see his name under 2 Beatles and Harry Nilsson.

u/AxlandElvis92 avatar

Right. They were all tight though. Which I think is cool no judgement for being a pop star. Not to mention The Monkee’s did cover at least one Nilsson song that was a hit, their version of Cuddly Toy was a hit but Harry’s original is much better imho.

Who’d a thunk Ringo and Mickey Dolenz would be the ones still around in 2024

u/AxlandElvis92 avatar

Agree Ringo admits he did more drugs than most thought. Harry, Alice and Keith were known for their copious intake. Ringo said about the 1970’s “we were no longer musicians dabbling in drugs we were junkies dabbling in music”.

Cooper could have been Bon Scott's brother.

If only Bon had quit the drink too

Dudes were so skinny then

Alice Cooper is still skinny.

so is Keith Moon

Too Soon.

Moon would be dead within 2 years. Tragic.

Even in this pic, he was larger than life.

u/OliverNorvell1956 avatar

A shame, he was a once in a lifetime talent on drums.

Is this the day when they both later raced down that California street and Moon crashed that car?

Makes me think of that story where Keith crashed his car and the responding police officer walked up and said "hello, Keith. I knew it was you"

u/Ok_Broccoli_3605 avatar

Into the swimming pool?

u/shiningonthesea avatar

that was years before

Was keith moon a giant or is alice small?

According to a Google search, Keith Moon was 5'8". Alice Cooper is 5'10".

u/Witty_Might5 avatar

Both I think lol

u/kirby_krackle_78 avatar

Both of their heads look way too big for their bodies.

Used to live in his hometown of Phoenix and bumped into Alice Cooper at the airport a few times. He's a short, little man.

u/ReasonableCost5934 avatar

I passed Alice on the street one day. I was within 3 feet of him. He’s tiny.

u/Witty_Might5 avatar

I know Mr. Coopa is a dainty little dude. Keith always seemed beefy too lol

Keith Moon. Dude was dangerous. What is it about the crazy English drummers? I tend to lump John Bonham and Ginger Baker with Keith Moon in this category. Top end super group performers with some pretty serious demons.

Something is very weird about this photo...

u/ricks_flare avatar

Very. I googled “Alice Cooper and Keith Moon” and there’s a whole series of photos from this shoot. They all look normal except this one

He signed my guitar after playing a riff from Schools Out.

I'm guessing Alice just polished off 18 at Wilshire CC and Keith just polished off a fifth of Jack and three groupies.

That is so cool

Keith… and his goblet. So English!

What a time to be alive

70s rock were a different, much cooler, breed.

If they made it out of the 70s.

My word, Alice is just a sliver of a guy.

I had no idea Alice Cooper was a female tennis player.

Amazing that Alice is still alive and doing well.

Vince has chicken legs. My takeaway.

u/NJdeathproof avatar

Hell of a golfer, Alice Cooper.

Wow what a life

u/BattleSpecial242 avatar

Alice lives near me in Phoenix. He’s a good dude.

I don’t know how Alice survived. Seeing some of the footage of him from that doc Banger did is shocking. Literally looked like a corpse.

I don’t know much about Alice Cooper’s background but he looks like he might be a tad blue blooded from this picture.

Keith was gigantic... Or Alice was tiny.

u/Holiday-Tie-574 avatar

Where are their drivers?

Moons Rolls had a sweeter grill headlight thing forsure.

u/jimviv avatar

Finally got to see AC last year with Rob Zombie. What a great show that was.

u/perfumefetish avatar

even n the 70s, AC always looked older than he was....still love the guy

two parts of the hollywood vampires

Tan shaved legs lol

Then they drove them into the pool

Now Alice cooper is addicted golf hope he never gives it up

I like how Moon's Roll has the steering wheel on the other side. I imagine he had it brought over from England.

It is startling how tiny Alice looks next to Moon, who wasn't very big himself?

u/TenRingRedux avatar

Moments before Moon parked his Rolls in his pool?
