The Spencer Davis Group – Keep On Running Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Keep On Running Lyrics

[Chorus]
Hey, hey, hey
Everyone is talking about me
It makes me feel so sad
Hey, hey, hey
Everyone is laughing at me
It makes me feel so bad
So keep on running

[Verse 2]
Keep on running, running from my arms
One fine day I'm gonna be the one
To make you understand
Oh, yeah, I'm gonna be your man

[Outro]
Hey, c'mon
It makes me feel so good
I wanna be your man
Oh right c'mon baby
I know you make me feel so good, ahh
You make me wanna show baby
C'mon c'mon c'mon baby c'mon

About

Genius Annotation

“Keep On Running” describes a situation where a desperate narrator wants to get together with his infatuation. The track peaked UK’s Singles Chart in January 1966, but the highest it got in the United States was 76th.

Albeit originally recorded by Jamaican ska artist Wilfred “Jackie” Edwards, it was The Spencer Davis Group who made this song as popular as it is today. Steve Winwood’s usage of the fuzz guitar, which was inspired by the The Rolling Stones' “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” was the central part of the reason why this song caught the ears of the listeners and secured its place in Rock'n Roll’s history.

Several films and TV-series have used the song, such as the Buster, Run Fatboy Run and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Finnish hip-hop band Ruger Hauer also sampled the song in their track “Elvis Sanoo Ei.”
