How to drag Video without Audio follow?

PostMon May 02, 2022 6:20 am

Dear community, i'm new to resolve. Whenever i try to drag video clip in video 2 track to video 1 track, the audio of the clip also go to Audio Track 1.
Is it possible to keep Audio in Audio Track 2?
This annoying movement makes my backsound (Audio Track 1) overwrited. Thanks.

Thanks

Right-click on the video clip, and uncheck Link Clips. Then make sure only the video clip is selected and move it wherever you want. If you want the audio and video relinked, then select them both and click Link Clips.

Two more options in addition to what xunile mentioned:

1) Timeline menu --> uncheck "Linked Move Across Tracks"
Now your audio/video clips will remain linked and move together horizontally in the timeline, but will not mirror each other across tracks. You can move a video clip from Video2 to Video1 and the audio clip will remain on Audio2. This is likely the behavior you are looking for.

2) Temporarily un-link all clips in your project by disabling the "Link" button at the top of the timeline (next to the magnet button for snapping). Enabling this button will enable all the links and all the clips will be grouped back together again. This is useful if you need to adjust multiple groups and don't want to have to un-link and re-link each group again.

Side note: there is also Timeline menu -> "Layered Audio Editing" that will allow audio clips to be stacked on top of each other without overwriting. Back when first experimented with this, it didn't seem to work correctly if the audio clip is linked to a video clip as it still overwrote the audio clip. If the audio clip is not linked to video, then it works as expected.

Alt + click
Option + click under macOS
And you select only audio or only video then you can edit without unlink
Like in premiere…
Never unlink audio video is a dangerous way to live in editing world. :-P

I made the switch from Premiere just over a year ago and could not figure this out until today! Thanks you! About to save me so much time
