Kate Williams is CNN’s historian and royal expert. She has commented for CNN on the birth of Prince George, the Queen’s Jubilee in 2013, the 2014 Scottish Referendum, the anniversary of D-Day and multiple royal and historical events.

Williams is a historian, author, broadcaster and an expert in royal and historical current affairs. She is the author of four highly acclaimed historical biographies about major and royal figures including Elizabeth II, Young Elizabeth (2012) and Queen Victoria, Becoming Queen Victoria (2010), a New York Times Bestseller.

Before she joined CNN, Williams commented widely on royal and historical issues for all channels including the BBC and has presented her own programs on royal issues and British history. She has written for all major UK and US newspapers and has a degree and PhD from Oxford University and is Professor of History at Reading University.
