Kate Middleton admitted she 'might buy William' Spiderman outfit in present confession

KATE MIDDLETON admitted she "might buy William" a Spiderman outfit ahead of his 39th birthday.

Kate Middleton and William send message for Father's Day

The Duke of Cambridge turned 39 yesterday and thanked well-wishers for their birthday messages on social media. While little is known about how William spent his birthday, his wife did reveal a clue as to what she might buy him. The Royal Family are known for their joke presents to each other, especially at Christmas, and Kate is an especially good prankster.

One year she bought her brother-in-law Prince Harry a ‘Grow your own girlfriend’ kit in a brutal dig at his bachelorism.

However, not long after Harry met his future wife Meghan Markle.

Kate may have flexed her prank muscles again this birthday with a Spiderman costume for her husband.

The Duchess had a conversation with martial arts teacher Jason Baird, one of the finalists from her “Hold Still” photograph competition last year in a video link uploaded to YouTube.

Mr Baird’s photograph submission showed him doing a backflip in front of some children while dressed as Spiderman.

Kate said the picture was a great image of “community spirit”, adding that she would like to see William in a costume.

She continued: “Thank you for sending your photograph because there are some really emotive and sad images and stories that we had.

“But this brought, you know, particularly to the judging panel, it was such a wonderful, positive image of community spirit.

“It was amazingly captured. And I hadn’t appreciated it at the time but you are a martial arts teacher so that gives it a lot of context as well.

“‘I’ll see if it takes on the trend here at Kensington Palace. Might have to buy William a suit.

“Unfortunately, I’m not sure so he’s going to get the air clearance you’ve done.”

Kate’s subtle jibe at William shows that she still has the sense of humour that the Duke of Cambridge said he loves so much.

In their engagement interview back in 2010, William recalled their early relationship, explaining that they connected due to their shared cheeky sense of humour.

He said: “We were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on.

“We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle.

“She’s got a really naughty sense of humour, which kind of helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour.”

Demonstrating this dynamic, William teased Kate in their engagement interview about claims she had a poster of him on her bedroom wall when she was younger.

When the interviewer, Tom Bradby, asked Kate whether the reports were true, William butted in, joking: “There wasn’t just one, there were about 20.”

Kate laughed and said: “He wishes! No, I had the Levi’s guy on my wall, not a picture of William, sorry.”

William quipped: “It was me in Levi’s, obviously.”

This element of their relationship reflects the Queen and Prince Philip’s long-lasting marriage.

The Queen is said to have been greatly amused by Philip's ”naughty” sense of humour and that he kept her smiling through their year of lockdown at Windsor Castle together.

Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, told Hello! Magazine: “[Philip] makes her laugh, he’s got a slightly naughty sense of humour, a sense of the ridiculous that keeps her amused.”

Phil Dampier, author of ‘Prince Philip: Wise Words and Golden Gaffes’ agreed that the Duke has “always had the ability to make [the Queen] laugh”.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said Kate will be pulling out all the stops to make William’s birthday special this year after the difficult year the royals have had.

As well as the coronavirus lockdown, they have had to cope with the loss of Prince Philip and the fallout from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal exit.

Ms Nicholl said: “Kate always makes birthdays and celebrations special for William and the children.

“She’s very much like her mother Carole in that respect.

“She’ll be aware that this has been a tough year for William and will want his birthday and Father’s Day to be special for him.”

She added: “Kate keeps William grounded and she likes to show how important he is to her and children.
