Kate Hannan Abraham, age 82, of New York, NY died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Mother of Jamili Abraham and Mick Abraham, grandmother of Hannan Abraham, wife for 60 years of F. Murray Abraham, she suffered for years from MS but never lost her hope and good humor despite the challenges she faced. She was extraordinarily courageous, fiercely loyal, and always honest. She was loved by a wide circle of people, some of whom knew her only briefly and many for decades. She was an inspirational woman who embodied dignity and grace throughout her life.
Kate loved classic country and classic movies, and her beloved NY Yankees. Needlepoint pieces she created over 30 years ago still adorn her family’s pillows, walls, and Christmas trees. She did crosswords in ink and solved Jumbles just by hearing the letters read to her. She was a Jeopardy! champion in the 70s, spoke French fluently, and was first flute in her high school orchestra. Kate was stubborn, and funny, and loving, and feisty until the end.
