Kate Gosselin ‘happy and at peace’ in new downsized North Carolina life

Kate Gosselin has drastically changed her life after moving from a nearly 24-acre, 7,300-square-foot home in Pennsylvania to a .88-acre, 3,560-square-foot modest house in North Carolina.

An insider told The Post, the “Kate Plus 8” alum “is very happy and at peace” in her new downsized lifestyle, adding that at the moment she has no plans to return to reality television as long as her kids are involved.

The news comes after her estranged son, Collin, recently addressed his lack of relationship with his mom, which he says started even before he was institutionalized for behavioral issues in early 2018.

“Even before [being] there, I don’t think we had much of a relationship, and I think that just kept tearing it even more down,” Collin told “Entertainment Tonight” on Monday, blaming the distance on “TV and what being in the public eye does to a family.”

The now 18-year-old, who starred on his parents’ reality series with his siblings from 2007 to 2017, explained, “I think it tore us apart. It gave us less time to actually be together as a family [and] more time to be in the public eye.”

Meanwhile, Gosselin had been planning her move to North Carolina years ago.

In 2018, Gosselin, 47, purchased the four-bedroom, five-bathroom waterfront home in the North Carolina town of Troutman for $750,000, records shows.

The move came shortly before she lost custody of her son, Collin, and later, Hannah.

Three years later, on Feb. 26, 2021, she sold her long-time Pennsylvania estate at a slight loss for $1.085 million. Initially, Kate was hoping to score $1.3 million when she first listed the home in 2020.

Jon and Kate purchased the massive six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Wernersville, PA, property for $1.12 million in 2008, a year before they divorced.

Kate’s new and much smaller home is situated on Lake Norman and features include an owner’s suite with dual bathrooms.

“All lakeside rooms have doors leading out to the covered veranda for easy access to lake life,” the previous listing stated.

Other features include a pool, hot tub, and an extended garage underneath the veranda.

Meanwhile, Collin noted that he didn’t let his mom’s absence from a 2018 court hearing, which resulted in Jon obtaining sole physical and legal custody, “bother” him.

“It’s on her own terms,” he explained. “If she doesn’t want to show up, she doesn’t have to show up.”

“I came to the conclusion that everybody has their own agenda, you know?” he added. “My mom had her own agenda, and I don’t know exactly what that was. But I was put in a tough spot, and my agenda was to make it out on top of that tough spot.”

Meanwhile, Jon, 45, also spoke to the outlet revealing that he misses his other six children, which includes Collin’s sextuplet siblings, Joel, Aaden, Alexis, and Leah, as well as 22-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn, who have all chosen not to live with him.

“Of course, I miss them,” Jon told “ET,” noting that he texts his eldest children but has not received replies.

“That’s why I post things on my Instagram, like, throwbacks, TBTs,” he continued at the time. “It’s bittersweet, but [Hannah] and Collin live with me, so I kind of just focus on them.”

Meanwhile, although fans might not see their kids on reality television anytime soon, Kate, however, is expected to appear in Fox’s new upcoming reality series: Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

The show will take 16 celebrities and test them to the limits.

Celebrities like Kate, Jaimie Lynn Spears, and Beverly Mitchell will endure some of the most grueling training sessions and dangerous challenges — all based on the experiences of an elite team of ex-special forces operatives.

“I want to do this so bad,” says a teary-eyed Kate in the trailer.

The show will debut with a two-hour premiere event on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
