🇬🇧 Very nice zoo/city garden. Nice walking paths and lots of animals. You can watch the feedings and take a boat ride through the entire zoo (but it costs extra). The boat tour is worthwhile because you can see fish swimming with you.

We unexpectedly made a visit to the Zoo today (as in we walked past and decided it looked fun, so we went in). The entrance price was really surprising as I am used to pay at least €25 p.p. for entrance to the Zoo. We payed €13 p.p. We spend approximately 5h-6h inside. They have a lot of toilets which is really nice. A lot of food stands and a really good restaurant, which isn't too expensive either. They have a lot of tiny stores where you can buy Merch (an Otter and Red Panda plushie found their new home with us today). They have a lot of animals. We really enjoyed watching the Seals. Definitely as one of them was playing with his basketball the entire time. What was also really exciting for me was that they have machines where you can buy a personalized postcard, as an avid post card collector this is AMAZING. We really recommend it!

I really enjoyed my visit to the Zoo/garden in Karlsruhe! Admission is €10 for adults. The gondola ride around the lake and canals is a MUST. To take the full trip it's €4,50. Which I thought was a fair price for about 15-20 minute ride. There are tons of hungry Carp which will swim right up to the boat! Lots of ducks and even pelicans sit along the shore. I highly recommend going in the spring to see all of the lovely flowers! This is definitely more a zoo garden rather than a traditional zoo. There aren't as many animals to see but the picturesque gardens totally make up for that. Not a lot of food options within the zoo, but the Crepe stand was good. Can't go wrong with a Crepe mit Nutella. The Japanese garden portion is also a must see! Overall I had a lovely time visiting the Karlsruhe zoo and will definitely come back! :)

Ok, so it's a very pretty park but there's no way such a small zoo should be allowed the number of large animals which they have. The enclosure sizes are tiny -- hippos and elephants are huge mammals but they have barely any space to move; the lions and leopard are in cages which my pet cat would find cramped and the monkeys and chimps are in small glorified greenhouses. Even the koi carp looked miserable swimming in about a foot of thick green soupy water. However, the saddest creatures of all are the 3 adult polar bears who share a pitiful existence on some concrete "ice" with a pool of green water just about big enough to accommodate 1 bear at a time. One of these poor animals swims round and round in constant circles, a stereotypical indicator of stress and boredom. Shame on the people who run this place and on anyone who thinks this a fit way to treat these creatures. If you consider yourself an animal lover please consider a trip to the Alternative Bear and Wolf Park instead, its about an hour south but is an infinitely nicer experience.

Despite the fact that I'm not a huge animal lover, I loved this zoo! It's a great mix of exotic animals and gardens and beautiful any time of the year. I most loved the giraffe and baby tigers.

My favourite part of the zoo is the little gondoletta boats, attached to an underwater track, which take you across the lake to the other side of the zoo.

The zoo's location directly across the street from the train station is incredibly convenient to visit.

Entrance rates are low and even lower for students!

This zoo is located in a beautiful garden. It is small but it has a good choice of species. Very good to visit with kids.

A very well organized place. Although people object on the zoo concept, this one was a place where the animals were treated with dignity, in roomy places. The boat cruise is unique. Highly recommended

This was my first visit to the zoo here in Europe. The zoo itself is small, but they have a good selection of animals to include animals from Africa, South America, and Asia.

The bird sanctuary was very nice and the top floor has an observation deck that overlooks the entire sanctuary.

The botanical gardens are in full bloom already and are beautiful. There is an abundant amount of benches around the property where you can sit and relax on a nice sunny day. There are literally benches in every nook and cranny of the park. There is even one area of the garden that has a case that looks like a phone booth containing books that are available for you to read.

There are no bathrooms near the entrance of the zoo. Bathrooms are either in the bird sanctuary or across from the giraffe exhibit.

There are a few food concession places on the property, but I would advise to pack and bring your own lunch or eat outside of the zoo. The food. Did not look too great. The train station is literally across the street and has several food options inside.

I have to admit that I am not a fan of zoos at all because wild animals are not there for people's entertainment and have a right to be free in the natural environment they belong to. Anyway there are zoos which offer areas which are rudimentary appropriate to the species. But this zoo has such small cages - poor animals. The elephants teeter from one leg to another as if they are mentally disordered and the giraffes have a enclosure that could be my flat (referred to the size of it).

I am asking you to not support this.

Just over the road from the rail station is the zoo and was far bigger than we thought so spent longer than anticipated. They had a good selection of animals and we were passing when the polar bears were being fed and there is an observation window looking into the water and it was a delight to see a polar bear swimming around under the water.
