Apparently Big Joe's second-to-last album, this is a decent if unremarkable outing from "The Boss of the Blues". The trouble lies in the fact that the arrangements are pretty pedestrian, the playing pretty average, and Big Joe's diction and enunciation practically non-existant. By this point he was an old man and had largely abandoned singing in favour of making various sounds that approximate singing. That's not to say that none of the old magic is in evidence, it is, but it's pretty diluted. Having said that however, it's a nice treat to hear jazz classics like "Since I Fell for You" and "Time after Time", which I'd never heard Joe perform before. Overall this is an okay album, but not worth going out of your way for. Really for completists only.
