Justin Hartley’s ex-wife, daughter defend him amid ‘Selling Sunset’ backlash

Justin Hartley’s ex-wife and their daughter defended the “This Is Us” star after his estranged wife, Chrishell Stause, said he told her about their divorce via text last year.

Lindsay Hartley, who was married to Justin from 2004 to 2012, and their 16-year-old, Isabella, shared their support on social media after the latest season of “Selling Sunset” featured a clip of Stause saying Justin informed her of their divorce via text message — causing backlash from fans.

“In a day when social media should be used for positivity…an inspiration towards movement in an honest and deserving way, I’d like to join, by highlighting my appreciation for my family,” Lindsay wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Tuesday. “Today, I appreciate my ex-husband Justin for not only being [an] exemplification of a solid man but for being my dear friend and devoted father to our daughter. Simply put; for being family.”

She added, “We derive our own opinion of people by experiencing life and time together, and we do our best to hold dear the ones that maintain consistent kindness, love and generosity.”

The actress expressed that even though she and Justin had their ups and downs, she stands by him.

“No matter what conflicts Justin and I had in the past, I appreciate what we have today and am thankful for the family we have built,” she said.

Isabella re-posted her mom’s message to her own Instagram account.

Justin, 43, and Lindsay, 42, met on set of soap opera “Passions.”

Stause appeared to respond to Lindsay’s statement by posting a cryptic message to her Instagram story.

“Be the woman who fixes another woman’s crown without telling the world it was crooked,” the quote read. She then added her own text writing, “Women who build each other up are my tribe.”

Late last year, Justin filed to divorce Stause after two years of marriage.

But it wasn’t until last week when the third season of “Selling Sunset” premiered that 39-year-old Stause revealed how their breakup allegedly went down.

“Um, I found out because he text[ed] me that we filed,” Stause had told her co-star Mary Fitzgerald. “Forty-five minutes later, the world knew.”

The real estate agent said she was caught off guard by his decision and wanted answers.
