Editorial Reviews
2016 release from the British rock/pop icon. Sir Cliff Richard was originally referred to as the UK's answer to Elvis Presley but he quickly established his own identity and has adapted and flourished over the years as one of Britain's most beloved entertainers. On this album, he revisits the rock 'n' roll gems that inspired his career 60 years ago. The album features covers of 'Roll Over Beethoven', 'She's Got It' and a brand new track titled 'It's Better To Dream'.

Done by one of Britain's greatest Singers.
Cliff's fans know that Cliff is primarily about rock n roll. It's where he started in the 1950s. It was the mainstay of his early singles and albums, but that all got forgotten in the 1980s, when Cliff was very much a pop star. The rock has always been there, forming a backbone of albums that he;s put out on a regular basis. This album is then not so much a change as a return to roots, and Cliff certainly sounds like he's enjoying his work. "Roll Over Beethoven" is perhaps the best track here, though it only just sits higher than the many great songs competing with it. It is typical of the album, being brash and original, while managing to cling to the thrill of the 1950s sound. Elsewhere on the album, the mash-up of "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin'" is a fresh reworking of a duo he performed on "The Event" album of 1990, but for fans it is a welcome revisit to a highlight of that album and the show from which it came.
The "Deluxe" edition of the album comes in an extra sleeve, and with a set of five photos. That's something that fans will surely snap up, but the usual package has the same songs for less money. This is not an album to be written off as just for Cliff's fans. This is no sop to the blue-rinse brigade. What we've got here is a serious dusting off of some great rock n roll songs, interpreted with a sound that seems too rich to be coming from a mere CD. This album is also available on vinyl, and fans have every expectation that it will deliver an even better sound. If you are a Ciff fan then this is probably the most must-have Cliff album in a decade. If you are not a fan, just give it a chance to entertain you. There's been nothing like this album in the charts for years, and there are few performers alive today who could still perform these songs at this level.

SORRY SIR CLIFF only one record among ...so many.... that's why I wrote some ligns.
hope to hear your forthcoming cds against for a long time again. we have same age ..... :-)
ELVIS is gone in August 1977.... ALAIN july/12,2019.
The first track is a duet with Elvis Presley `Blue Suede Shoes`. He said recently in a radio interview, that he wanted to do a complete album of duets with EP, but Priscilla Presley said that the songs were now owned by somebody else, and that they would only allow one track. He also said that his one regret was never meeting Elvis. Other tracks were recorded by such artists as, Andy Williams/ Charlie Gracie, Johnny Burnette, Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Bobby Darin, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Everly Brothers ( where he duets with himself - brilliant) and Eddie Hodges. There is also a new song `It`s Better To Dream`, which sounds like a 1960`s track and will be his Christmas single.
Yes this is a surprisingly, to me at least, an excellent collection that stands up well with the music of today, and all the words are audible! People of my generation and hopefully younger will enjoy this journey back in time to the Rock `n` Roll days of yore. You never know there could be a few more on the way, after all there are a lot of memorable songs out there.
