Introduction
Notes
  • This version is somewhat equivalent to Junk Jack X (iOS Version)
  • There does not appear to be microtransactions as the iOS version has. Which is somewhat of a problem as we do not have access to the Botanist Hat.
  • This version is not fully comparable to Junk Jack Retro (old version). This is v3.0.2-steam.

Setup
  • Difficulty: This is completely up to you. Pick the one that you wish to play on.
  • Crafting Style: This can be changed in the settings, but you should pick Advanced Crafting.
  • Simple crafting means you do not have to remember how to make things, but this also means you MUST find the recipe in order to make a specific item. There is also a craft time (rather short, so negligible).
  • Advanced crafting will still let you read recipes, but everything must be manually placed into the crafting table. You can craft ANY item provided you have the materials and the proper work station for it. Also, you'll have an on hand crafting table which can be used as 10 inventory spaces later on.

Start Up
  • The main purpose of this section is to note that in multiplayer, any achievement that specifies "Place <object>" WILL NOT count for any non-hosts. This must be done on their own server/adventure.
  • If you're playing blind, but don't want to miss certain things check out the Magical Bean and Bottomless Chest. These are the only two (technically it's four) rare items that would be devastating to drop/lose.

Better With A Friend
Join a multiplayer game.

Self-explanatory. You'll need someone to host for you. I will not be helping with this. Try the discussions if you need assistance with this.
Planet System
The System
At the depths of each planet, you will find portal pieces. By collecting 3 of the same portal piece, you can open up a portal to the respective planet. All planets have two different planets that they can access.

Note: Portals can ONLY be found in adventure mode.
MP Note: The host cannot change worlds while in MP Mode.

In Adventure Mode, you begin on the world Terra.

Terra has portals for: Seth + Umbra
Seth has portals for: Alba + Thetis
Umbra has portals for: Alba + Thetis
Alba has portals for: Yuca + Xeno
Thetis has portals for: Mykon + Xeno
Yuca has portals for: Cryo + Magmar
Xeno has portals for: Lilith + Magmar
Mykon has portals for: Lilith + Tor

Disclaimer: I did not create this image.

Note: Every world except for Tor has an achievement for it. Tor also has no exclusive resources regarding achievements, so it is not required

Portals give off a very distinct blue glow regardless to which world they lead to. So using the map often will make finding these portals vastly easier. Do note, that you need three of the same portal piece in order to create a portal.

This is an example of how you setup a portal. Regardless of how many portals you place down for a world, you'll only get one instance of each planet in your adventure. If you move a portal, it'll still result in the same planet.

Warning: Do not place portals on worlds they do not belong on. This will crash your game.

Farming
After visiting a planet for the first time in Adventure Mode, you will be able to infinitely create these planets as stand-alone worlds. This works extremely well in regards for farming for items. Create and delete these worlds at your pleasure.

Crafting
Learning The Basics
Craft your first item.

The crafting system in Junk Jack like most crafting system will require you to obtain items that combine to create other items. Then Junk Jack splits up the crafting system into two modes: Simple and Advanced.

Simple: You navigate through a menu and select whatever item you want to craft provided you have three things:
1. The Recipe
2. The Ingredients
3. The Craft Station

Honestly, there are no advantages to using simple craft. Unless you consider placing items in the right slot is a hassle.

Advanced: While the menu used in simple craft is still available, you cannot use it to craft. The right side of the inventory has a crafting table where you manually place items in order to craft.

The advantages to Advanced are:
1. You do not have to find recipes in order to craft things, you simply have to know the craft table combination for it.
2. You can use the craft table for 10 additional inventory spaces
3. Crafting things you don't have the recipe for will add the recipe.

Crafting: Stations
Like most crafting systems, specific stations are required to craft items that require more than just your hands. Junk Jack is no different, and there is an achievement for every station in the game. They're ordered in a way that you would encounter the materials required.

Note: All recipes for stations should be available by default in the game. And all stations should be made through the workbench station. Except for the workbench station.

Working Hard
Craft a workbench.

No Station Required

Hot Stuff!
Craft a forge.

Workbench

Blacksmith
Craft an anvil.

Workbench

Tinker Tinker
Craft a tinkerer's tool.

Time For A Better Home
Craft a carpentry bench.

I actually can't recall if you were suppose to craft a carpentry bench or a woodworker bench. Description says carpentry, icon says woodworker. Here's both:

Workbench

Woodworker Bench

Woodworker Bench

Workbench

Leatherworker
Craft the tanning tools.

Workbench

Raw Leather drops from cows on Terra.

Craft a mason bench.

Workbench

Bricks are produced by placing raw clay into a forge.
Raw Clay is commonly found near water sources on Terra.

Craft a dying machine.

Anvil

The warning is noting that the iron bucket item is not stackable

Workbench

Widget recipe is somewhere above.

Chemist
Craft the chemistry bench.

Tinkerer's Tools

Woodworker Bench

Workbench

Electrician
Craft the electrician's bench.

Workbench

Refined Silicium is produced by placing Silicium Lumps into a forge.
Silicium Lumps are found underground on: Yuca, Xeno, Mykon, Cryo, Lilith, Magmar, and Tor
Crafting: Tools
Come Get Some
Craft your first weapon.

No Station Required

Metal swords have the same blueprint, replace the wood block with metal ingots. The hilt will either be made of wood, or with an iron bar. These also must be crafted at an anvil.

Let's Dig
Craft your first shovel.

No Station Required

Metal tools can be crafted by replacing the blocks with ingots and the hilt will be made of either planks or iron bars. These are crafted at anvils.

Mining Time
Craft your first pickaxe.

No Station Required

Metal tools can be crafted by replacing the blocks with ingots and the hilt will be made of either planks or iron bars. These are crafted at anvils.

Serious Tools
Craft a stronger tool.

Anvil

As the icon suggests, golden tool would be the minimum. Gold can be found on any world, on Terra, it's closer to the very bottom as it is the highest tier metal on Terra.

Master Of Tools
Craft a Titanium tool.

Anvil

Similar to Gold, just substitute the gold for titanium. Titanium is found at the mid to lower levels of Yuca, Xeno, and Mykon.

Best Of The Best
Craft a Galvanium tool.

Anvil

Galvanium is the highest tiered metal in the game and is found in the depths of Cryo, Lilith, Magmar, and Tor.
Crafting: Etc
Goodnight
Craft your first bed.

Workbench

You can mix the tree leaves if you're worried about that.

Showroom
Craft a showcase.

Workbench

First off, you'll need two Simple Shelves, which this recipe will create 2.

Woodworker Bench

Self-explanatory. If you need this bench, see Crafting: Station. The shelves are shown above. Nails are crafted at an anvil using a single ingot per 9 nails.

A Book Or Two
Craft a bookshelf.

Woodworker Bench

You'll need two wood boards for the bookshelf, and this recipe produces 4.

Tinkerer's Tools

Papyrus can be found on the surface of Seth. 4 Papyrus produces 2 paper. You need 12 paper total to craft 3 books, so 48 Papyrus

Tinkerer's Tools

See above.

Woodworker Bench

The book color has no effect, so don't worry about those. They change upon splitting stacks. The important part to point out here is the wood boards. It seem other wood boards may not be coded, so if you're worried, make sure you use the default wood boards.

Animal Tamer
Craft a taming collar.

Tinkerer's Tools

Raw Leather drops from cows on Terra.
Those are copper bars as well.

Make It Boom
Craft a bomb.

Tinkerer's Tools

You'll need Basalt Crystals which come from Basalt Blocks. However, finding these may prove long. Gunpowder can be found from dynaslimes, but finding them may also prove tedious. So below is the alternative.

After making an iron bucket, bring water and lava to the same spot. Then when the liquids collide, they create Basalt infinitely. I don't recall what type of pickaxe you need at a minimum to mine Basalt.

Tinkerer's Tools

Papyrus can be found on the surface of Seth.
Gundpowder is made above, or dropped from Dynaslimes.

No Station Required

Fuse and Gunpowder are listed above. Paper is also shown above, see Paper/Bookshelf.
Note: I accidentally crafted this using a workbench, so ignore the background for the crafting table.

Demolition Man
Craft 20 TNTs.

Tinkerer's Tools

You can use any gel and any combination of gel for this. Gels are dropped from any slime.

Sticky Fingers
Craft a sticky bomb.

Tinkerer's Tools

Need More Space
Craft a wood chest.

Workbench

Compulsive Hoarding
Craft 50 metal chests.

Tinkerer's Tools

Just to clarify, that's iron and copper.

Workbench

Substitute the Galvanium Ingots with your choice of metal.

Black Hole
Craft a bottomless chest.

Tinkerer's Tools

This is probably the second rarest achievement in terms of item finding (behind the Magical Bean). In short, every time you break a block, you have a chance of obtaining random items that serve no purpose. One of these random items include pieces of the bottomless chest. Each piece spawns from specific types of blocks from specific worlds.

Left: Terra [Stone/Thick Stone], Umbra [Thick Stone]
Center: Cryo [Bright Raw Ice/Dura Stone]
Right: Alba [Aqua Dirt, Red Carmine Dirt], Lilith [Grey Dirt]

Note: These are areas that I've encountered them from, so there may be more places that they drop from. Also, I do not know if blocks used as background count towards this. However, placed blocks do have a chance of dropping items as well, so naturally spawned blocks are not required.

Make The Difference
Encrust 10 items.

Tinkerer's Tools

This works with any gem.

First off, you'll need a cut gem and a tool. After that, simply right click the gem and you'll get this:

Once this shows up, simply select a tool/weapon depending on your gem and hit the check mark. Then repeat 9 more times. Note: Weapon/Tool stacks will differ if they're encrusted with different gems.
Place Achievements
Technically, these should probably go under the crafting section, but due to the requirements, I decided to separate them.

1. Some achievements require you to place multiple of the same item. They can be placed, picked up, and placed again repeatedly to increase the counter.
2. Placing items while NOT the host in a multiplayer game, will not count. Doing them in singleplayer is fairly simple in general so this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
3. I'll still provide crafting tables in regards to each item.

Light It Up!
Place your first torch.

No Station Required

Let There Be Light
Place 100 torches.

Recipe above.

Supernova
Place 1000 torches.

Mobs | Killing Achievements
Several of these kills can be tracked or somewhat tracked in your stats. Stats are located in your equip screen shown below. The arrow above the avatar opens up the stat screen.

In regards to farming enemies, if you back up your world save after seeing a specific enemy spawn, you can kill it, leave the world, reload the backup and forcibly kill the same enemy over and over that way.

Note: This list is based on world depths. The things you're more likely to encounter are placed first.

Slayer
Kill 1000 mobs.

Self-explanatory.

Butcher
Kill 100 Critters.

Critters include the subset of NPCs that cannot harm you. I am uncertain as to whether this extends to critters such as snakes and miniature spiders. Bunnies/Rabbits definitely count. Animals that have their own achievement do not count towards this. Birds do not count towards this.

Getting Birds Angry
Kill 50 birds.

Located on Terra during the day on the surface.

Kill Me Softly
Kill 100 sheeps.

Located commonly on the surface of Terra during the day.

Milked To Death
Kill 100 cows.

Located commonly on the surface of Terra during the day. Warning: You have to kill at least 200, rather than just 100.

Bacon Factory
Kill 100 pigs.

Located commonly on the surface of Terra during the day.

Jack's Fried Chickens
Kill 100 Chickens.

Located commonly on the surface of Terra during the day.

Grilled Bears
Kill 50 bears.

By far the rarest animal in the game, spawns on the surface of Terra during the day. Not to be confused with the bull/boar.

Oh Meow!
Kill 10 Cats.

Can spawn on any world during the day, but commonly found on the surface of Umbra. Whether color has to do with this may be related, but the black cats count for sure.

Squishy Mess
Kill 200 Slimes.

Everywhere. Even in your stats.

Bone Crusher
Kill 50 skeletons.

In Junk Jack, there are several types of skeletons. Most of them do not count towards this achievement. You must find regular skeletons which are located underground on Terra. They can also be spawned by breaking gravestones (commonly located in Umbra). Gravestones can be placed and picked up to spawn them.

Tracked in stats.

Dawn Of The Dead
Kill 50 zombies.

Spawns on Terra at night and all day underground. They can also be spawned by breaking gravestones (commonly located in Umbra). Gravestones can be placed and picked up to spawn them. Also uncertain as to whether variations of this mob count towards the achievement, but the surface ones seem to count.

Tracked in stats.

Arachnophobia
Kill 200 spiders.

Spawns underground and at night on the surface on every world. Do note that the small critter spiders do not count towards this achievement. Only hostile spiders do.

Tracked in stats.

It Stings!
Kill 30 Spiked Rats.

A rare spawn in the mid to lower levels of Terra. Its appearance is very distinct and its attacks are a dead giveaway with the spikes shooting everywhere.

Gone With A Boom
Kill 80 Dynaslimes.

Located only underground on all worlds. The later worlds spawn bigger dynaslimes. Uncertain if these larger dynaslimes count.

My Armor Is Better
Kill 40 Skeleton Knights.

Located at the very bottom of Terra in caverns and dungeons. Waiting around near a dark cavern will cause enemies to spawn infinitely. Its current sprite is different from the achievement icon, but if you see an enemy in complete gold armor, you have the right guy.

Band Aid
Kill 50 Mummies.

Common spawn on Seth. Spawns on the surface at night.

Tracked in stats.

Scorpion King
Kill 50 Scorpions.

A fairly uncommon spawn on Seth. I never encountered many underground, but the surface roughly had 5-6 per day. The scorpion alternatives do not count towards this achievement.

Tracked in stats.

In Cold Blood
Kill 70 Worms.

Worms are located underground on several worlds. Good spots to do this are Alba, Cryo, and Magmar.

Where Is My Barrel?
Kill 20 gorillas.

Located underground on Alba. Their spawn is rare. They look like monkeys that also spawn on Alba, but you can distinguish them by their red eyes.

Unhappy Feet
Kill 20 penguins.

Located on the surface of Cryo during the day.

Deadly Cute
Kill 80 Grumpys.

Located on several worlds, but can commonly be found on the surface of Magmar as well as underground.

Fat Kills
Kill 50 Belly Bobs.

Found underground on Magmar roughly around the middle level.

You Ripped My Heart
Kill 40 Soul Rippers.

Found underground on Magmar roughly around the middle level.

Where Are You?
Kill 50 Blind Skeletons.

Located at the depths of Magmar. Magmar has three skeletons: the one throwing the explosives is the one you want.

Hard As Hell
Kill 80 obsidian demons.

Located at the depths of Magmar.
Miscellaneous
Consumption
Apple Fanboy
Eat so many apples.

To be specific, you'll be looking at roughly 300-500 apples consumed. It's hard to track these things without a proper tracker, but it's at a minimum of 300 eggs as mentioned by the developer in some rather old threads from a few years ago. I consumed roughly 400 before mine showed up.

Due to the sheer number, you'll want to establish an apple farm fairly early. On every planet you visit, and especially on Terra which may become your central hub due to being the first world as well as the grinding that occurs here.

Setting up an apple farm is fairly simple, you can find apple tree saplings inside crates, fruit crates, or chests. Further apples may yield itself in the same areas as well. If you're someone who's paranoid about the number of apples they've consumed, don't eat any until you get to at least 300 apples, that way it's easier to keep track.

Eggsellent
Consume 50 chicken eggs.

Kill chickens, pick up egg, throw into a forge/furnace and cook them into eggs and enjoy. Rinse and repeat.

Blocks
I'll say this now, blocks destroyed using TNT and bombs do NOT count towards this counter. Blocks destroyed in multiplayer DO count towards this counter.

Dirty Work
Destroy 1000 dirt blocks.

Self-explanatory.

Stone Quarry
Destroy 1000 stone blocks.

Self-explanatory.

Oh No! Poor Nature!
Destroy 1000 wood blocks.

If you cut down the lowest block of a tree, it only counts as one. Leaves of the tree do not count. Also placed wood blocks do not count towards this achievement.

Expert Miner
Destroy 1000 blocks.

See Below.

World Carver
Destroy 10000 blocks.

See Below.

My Finger Hurts
Destroy 100000 blocks.

I recommend this being one of the last achievements you go for, since majority of your play will require block destruction anyways. But once you do decide to tackle this achievement, I highly recommend going to Cryo and breaking the bright raw ice blocks that shatter in a single hit. The background blocks count as well. (Ice is not listed as wood, stone, or dirt)

Several of these kills can be tracked or somewhat tracked in your stats. Stats are located in your equip screen shown below. The arrow above the avatar opens up the stat screen.

Deaths
Note: Deaths are tracked in the stat screen. See above.

It's Time To Die
You knew it would happen.

See below.

One More Time
Die 10 Times.

See below.

That's Life
Die 100 times.

See below.

Death Best Friend
Die 1000 times!

1000 deaths is quite a lot depending how you play. If you play on higher difficulties, you tend to avoid dying due to item loss. If you play on peaceful or easy, then dying may come naturally (provided they can actually kill you due to the mode's high regen).

In any case, should death farming be required:
One of my quickest ways to die is to manually jump on top of ice spikes on Cryo. The cursor can sit over the respawn button and you simply walk over to the spike and jump.

Alternatively, you can dig under the spawn point to either:
Die automatically upon fall damage.
or
Fill the area with lava/acid so you die anyways.

The spikes is probably the fastest method, but it'd be hard to get a good spawn to have it done automatically where an autoclicker can perform the latter automatically as it'll simply click the respawn button if you're dead.

Other
Treasure Finder
Break 20 treasure chests.

Tinkerer's Tools

Keys range from Copper all the way up to Antanium. Galvanium Keys do not exist. Locks for chests can go up to Mithril

Finding Chests: You can do runs along the surface to see if you can find chests that naturally spawn up there, or dig down into caverns as well as underground biomes which may house several biome chests.

Note: Chests are tracked in stats. See above deaths on how to get there.

Up!
Plant a magical bean.

This will be one of the hardest achievements to complete due to the rarity of this item. Your search targets should be chests, crates, and fruit boxes.

If you're playing with a friend, after you immediately plant it and get the achievement, you can uproot it and keep the bean to replant preventing you from having to find multiple beans. If you let it grow at all, rooting it will not produce the bean.

Death From Above
Throw 200 big bombs.

Again, this should probably be in crafting, but it has a throw requirement so it ended up here. See crafting section if you need help crafting bombs. Below is the final recipe for a big bomb.

No Station Required

End Of File
Reach the end of the world.

Self-explanatory. Just dig down all the way to the bottom and hit bedrock.

Head In The Clouds
Reach the top of the world.

Self-explanatory. You have to hit the top of the world. This can easily be done using dirt, ladders, just about any block you can stand on. Go up until you get the achievement.

Playtime
Do Your Homeworks!
Play for 1 hour.

See Below.

Plenty Of Time
Play for 10 hours.

See Below.

Get A Life!
Play for 250 hours.

While the first two achievements will come naturally while hunting these achievements, this last one may or may not depending on luck. Luckily, this can be idled. By default, there is a gameplay feature where 'continuous time' is disabled. This means in SP, when you open up your inventory manually, while crafting, or accessing a chest, the game time freezes. If you alt-tab, the game also stops time.

If you go to options, under gameplay, you will see Continuous Time. You want the white dot there. After that, open up a world and idle away. Make sure that your character is safe. I do not know if timer counts while dead.

Time played is tracked in your stats.

@Ness You probably found out by now, but in case you didn't or someone else is wondering I just uploaded 2 screenshots (just check most recent). One of a monkey and one of a gorilla. But it's easy to tell the difference. The monkey is passive. The gorilla is larger, has red eyes and it's aggressive. So if in doubt, see if it attacks you :D
Ness Sep 19, 2023 @ 12:43pm
Can somebody post how a gorilla looks like? I found a Monkey like mob in underground but after killing it over 20 times it doesent count
GlitterGek Jul 25, 2023 @ 4:56pm
I've eaten 400 apples and the achievement hasn't dropped so I guess it is more like 500 as mentioned.
chicdead26 Dec 31, 2022 @ 5:06am
Here is some info that is missing from this guide:

Treasure Finder: 20 chests is actually 50
Milked To Death: cows are definitely more than 100, since i got the chicken achievement before it but my most killed animal was cow (you said it, i'm just reinforcing it!)
Apple Fanboy: apples are tracked in collections! I can't quite remember how many you need, tho i could just check. 300?
Leap Of Faith: bridges is actually 500

Thank you, Ponkberry, this guide helped me earlier this year!

I don't trust that wiki too much because its quite outdated, plus I found all the chests I listed on those respective planets so... have fun.
Hail Lord Helix May 21, 2017 @ 12:15pm
Noticed a little mistake with this regarding which world has which portal chest.
Your list seems to have used the star map, but the arrows on this map don't actually correlate to which planet leads to which. From the Junk Jack wiki the correct list would be:
> Terra = Seth + Umbra
> Seth = Alba + Thetis
> Umbra = Thetis
> Mykon = Lilith + Tor
> Yuca = Cryo + Magma
> Xeno = Cryo + Magma + Lilith
Hail Lord Helix May 21, 2017 @ 1:22am
This is an incredibly detailed and well written guide, thank you so much for putting the time and effort into this. I primarily play on Android and this will definitely come in useful!
