billybob 1 Watch it with family. So good! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Gareth v A solid homecoming story that gets distracting with it's cliched take on southern U.S.A. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Jeff K I never turn movies off and couldn't make it through this one. Amy Adams is good, everything else terrible. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/23 Full Review dave s When Chicago art gallery owner Madeleine (Embeth Davidtz) travels to North Carolina on a business trip accompanied by her husband George (Alessandro Nivola), she has the opportunity to meet his family, who reside in the area. And what a family it is – a controlling mother, a distant father, an angry younger brother, and a sister-in-law, Ashley (Amy Adams), impossible to describe. Junebug, an effectively quirky independent film, succeeds primarily on the strength of its characters, all of whom are clearly defined and unrelentingly interesting. It is a movie filled with quiet humor, heart-wrenching sorrow, and enough good vibes to make anyone appreciate the value of family, warts and all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie! In American cinema, dysfunctional families are rarely depicted so accurately. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review edward g A gem. Best movie i have seen in years. Numb through the credits Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Nigel Andrews Financial Times It could have been an exercise in "let's mock the provincials..." But the writer and the director (Angus McLachlan, Phil Morrison) are both from North Carolina, so each side in this meeting of opposites is both humanised and demonised. Oct 7, 2018 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online You can call Junebug an unwanted, but much needed homecoming, mostly celebrated by the hearty welcome of George's sister-in-law Ashley Johnsten, played by Amy Adams. Rated: B+ Sep 12, 2017 Full Review Mark Bourne Film.com ...one of many reasons to love Junebug is how often it offers us spaces to fill in ourselves, the faith it shows in handing us small puzzles -- Eugene's hand-carved bird, for instance -- to chuckle over or think on afterward. Nov 30, 2007 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof A bad movie, especially in regards to its script. [Full Review in Spanish] Feb 12, 2020 Full Review Mattie Lucas The Dispatch (Lexington, NC) An observant, literate slice of Southern life. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Morrison and MacLachlan mine the clash of cultures for comedy, but there's an undertow of sadness to their film - and Adams's touching performance as George's naïve but well-meaning, heavily pregnant sister-in-law captures this perfectly Apr 26, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews
