as a wrestling fan, it is hard to get bored of matches in a wrestling ring. this was judgement day 2009 and i thought that overall, it was good:
CM PUNK VS UMAGA 7/10 was a very good match with the advantage constantly changing between both superstars and at the end was a expected result but a good match overall, also as this was in punk's home city of chicago means that punk has the home advantage.
ECW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
CHRISTIAN (CHAMPION) VS JACK SWAGGER 6/10 although this match was a rematch from backlash 2009, this match was a significant step down from that particular event however there were still a few good exchanges and counters however very predictable like many ECW matches
JOHN MORRISON VS SHELTON BENJAMIN (w/Charlie Haas) 8/10 my only issue with the DVD because this match was not mentioned on the back of the DVD but was a pleasant suprise because this match was a very good match with lots of counters and high-flying moves.
THE MIZ, SANTINO MARELLA AND ALFONSO SORIANO was hilarious as the miz came out to mock the chicago cubs and their captain Alfonso soriano but then came Santino with his mic skills which leads to a brawl which is quite good. Chavo then makes a appearence (very dissapointed with Chavo) 8/10
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
CHRIS JERICHO VS REY MYSTERIO (CHAMPION) 9/10 very good match and argubly one of the best matches of 2009. a lot of high flying moves by both competitors and a well fought match that is worth watching
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
BATISTA VS RANDY ORTON (CHAMPION) 8/10 a good match
John Cena vs. The Big Show
A grudge match that followed on from what the Big Show did to Cena at Backlash. I wasn't expecting much here, but it's actually rather decent. There're elements of Hogan vs. Andre here, with Show looking like a true dominant giant and Cena selling his injuries convincingly. Fine outing from both men. (6/10)
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Edge (Champion) vs. Jeff Hardy
After all their deep history together, how could one expect this main-event to be nothing less than brilliant? After so many ladder/cage/tag bouts together, this straight-wrestling bout shows just how much Edge and Jeff Hardy have matured as competitors, story-tellers and main-eventers. For twenty-minutes, they give the fans a simply engaging match that doesn't disappoint. Maybe the `shock' interference near the end is unnecessary but nothing really dampens the overall result. (9/10)
