Another Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast member has opened up about potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ming-Na Wen, who played S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Melinda May in the long-running ABC series, recently revealed whether Marvel Studios has reached out to her about reprising her role in a future MCU project.

During an appearance on The Sackhoff Show (via Screen Rant), Wen shared that she has not been contacted yet by Marvel about returning to the MCU. "No, they have not...it's weird, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sort of became a separate entity for whatever reason because it was on the network as opposed to streaming," she said. "I think there's some — and this is where my obliviousness also helps because I don't understand it, so you're asking the wrong person, I just know that there's some sort of division."

Agents of SHIELD Doesn't Need a Revival - But the Show Could Go in a Different Direction
Marvel fans are buzzing with talk about an Agents of SHIELD revival, but there's a better option that wouldn't risk spoiling the beloved series.

Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ran for seven seasons and 136 episodes on ABC from 2013 to 2020. Although initially billed as the first television series set in the MCU, Marvel Studios never properly acknowledged S.H.I.E.L.D., despite the show including numerous tie-ins to the theatrical movies during its first three seasons.

While Wen agreed with Kate Sackhoff's suggestion that the division might stem from being one of the last live-action Marvel shows to receive a traditional network episode count (22 versus streaming's 6-10), the actor argued that the show "should get some accolade for helping launch Marvel in what the TV [department] that it is now."

Ming-Na Wen's S.H.I.E.L.D. Co-Stars Remain Open to an MCU Return

Wen's Marvel comments come roughly two weeks after her S.H.I.E.L.D. co-stars Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) and Jeff Ward (Deke Shaw) were asked during separate interviews about a potential MCU return. For Clark, he noted that "[Coulson isn't dead] in every timeline," hinting that anything is possible when Marvel is "playing in a multiverse scenario." As for Ward, he was open to reprising his S.H.I.E.L.D. role, but only if he was still "in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D., because that’s where we last left him, so he’d have to be in charge."

Wen also shared with Sackhoff her hopes for a second season of The Book of Boba Fett, which originally ran on Disney+ between December 2021 and February 2022. The actor, who stars as mercenary Fennec Shand in the Star Wars galaxy, confirmed that she wanted another season of The Mandalorian spinoff as much as the fans did. "I think the fans and Tem [Morrison] and I, we should all do The Book Of Boba Fett Season 2," she suggested. "I think there’s a lot more stories to be told, and it hasn’t really quite finished and evolved and there’s more are so hopefully- I hope."
