Rangers and Celtic target Josh Doig appears set for shock transfer

Rangers and Celtic target Josh Doig appears set for a “shock” transfer this summer, despite joining Sassuolo in January, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported via its website on 2 May that Lazio appear to be the club that will secure his services once the window opens.

The 21-year-old moved to Sassuolo for a £5million fee but faces the prospect of relegation and playing in the second tier is not something that appeals to him.

Rangers could benefit from signing Josh Doig in the summer

Doig could be an excellent signing for Rangers as they seek to replace Borna Barisic.

At just 21 years old, the Scotland international has shown great potential in Serie A with his defensive and attacking capabilities from the left-back position.

His versatility as a left-back or wing-back will provide Gers with tactical flexibility, which is crucial in modern football.

Offensively, Doig has proven to be a valuable asset, contributing goals and assists from his position.

Having played in the Scottish Premiership and Serie A, Doig’s experience in different leagues showcases his adaptability and high-level performance.

Financially, Gers could acquire Doig at a reasonable price due to his age and potential for growth.

Whether or not he would want to make a return to Scotland is anyone’s guess, but the least they can do is try to convince him.

In other Rangers news, a first-team player has reached the end of his cycle at Ibrox and a £2m transfer may be on the cards.
