Jordan Rhodes: Blackpool striker credits impressive form to feeling at home at League One club

Blackpool striker Jordan Rhodes says his recent impressive form is down to feeling at home at the club since joining on loan from Huddersfield Town.

The 33-year-old has scored eight goals in 10 appearances, including four goals in his past five games for Blackpool.

He has already surpassed his scoring total for the entirety of last season, when he found the net six times in 35 appearances for the Terriers.

"It's the environment, the manager, lads and family life," he said.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire he continued: "This is one of my best times personally, professionally and collectively I've had in a long time.

"I'm enjoying my time here at the latter end of my career. It's all about enjoying it and playing with a smile on my face and going into an environment where I can try and make a difference and feel loved."

Rhodes scored his six goals for Huddersfield last season prior to the turn of the year following the World Cup break and did not register another goal for the rest of the campaign.

Neil Warnock's arrival at the club, when the Terriers were deep in a battle against relegation from the Championship, was particularly difficult for Rhodes and coincided with his lack of goalscoring form.

Asked whether Warnock directly told him he was not part of his plans during the summer, Rhodes added: "Not in those direct words, which was a little bit frustrating for myself. You just keep your head down, remain a good person on the field and a professional off it.

"The three or four months of his tenure before the summer wasn't a particularly enjoyable one for me.

"I worked hard in training [during the summer] and got into a good condition for coming back whether at Huddersfield or pastures new elsewhere.

"Something did come up and I've enjoyed every minute. Things in football seem to happen quickly and I'm a Tangerine now and enjoying it."
