Joplin Reviews

I moved to Joplin a little over 2 years ago. It’s not a very big city but it’s also not tiny. You have a lot of big box stores like Target, Ross, Kohl’s etc. There are also an abundance of restaurants and continue to get new ones. It’s growing and progressing for the better. It’s fairly safe, though alot of people will say it’s not. But, compared to other places in the US, even in Missouri, it’s pretty safe. There is a homeless problem but that’s not limited to Joplin. It’s a crisis in the United States. Joplin hosts a cultural event called Third Thursday downtown from March to October on the 3rd Thursday of each month. There is also lgbtq pride parade usually in September, and it’s growing each year. Compared to other communities in the area, Joplin really isn’t too bad to live. It’s the hub of southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri, and northeast Oklahoma for
shopping and dining.

It's a breath of fresh air when you're from Cleburne, TX. There's a gorgeous downtown area, super rustic and sweet. Uptown is nice too, easy to get around.
If meh were a city, it would be Joplin.
Low cost of living, but job opportunities are lacking, especially when coming from other areas.
