Jon was born September 27, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to J.M. and Jannette (Combs) Hart. He married Marilynn Lowder on February 20, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church in Dumas, Tx. They were blessed with three children Quentin, Suzanne, and Joni.

Jon loved any activity involving horses – ranching, racing and – most especially – team roping. He held a private pilot’s license and loved flying over the Golden Spread and beyond. If you couldn’t find him in the Hansford County area or the ranches of New Mexico, odds are he was fishing with friends and family. Jon was involved in many aspects of the Gruver and Hansford County communities, especially supporting youth through organizations like 4H, Future Farmers of America and the American Quarter Horse Association. Jon also contributed years of Board service to the Tri-State High School Rodeo Association and the Texas State High School Rodeo Association. He must have traveled millions of road miles to cheer on his kids and grandkids (and their friends) in activities as varied as tap dancing, football, basketball, rodeo and more. He never tired of supporting and mentoring kids in any competitive endeavor, timing track meets, coaching Little Dribblers and developing skills in the rodeo arena. A lifelong member of the Gruver United Methodist Church, Jon certainly arrived in Heaven just in time for a matched roping. His dear friend Mac, heeling on Gimlet, had Riley saddled and ready for Jon to rope. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jon is survived by his loving wife, Marilynn of the home; son, Quentin Hart and wife, Loree of Wimberley, Tx; two daughters, Suzanne Frazier and husband, Brian, of Gruver, Tx and Joni Green and husband, Henry, of Albany, Tx; seven grandchildren, Tessa (Thoreson) Martin and husband, Hunter, Marti Frazier, Dusty Frazier, Kelli Frazier, Tom Hart, MaCaully Hart, and Will Henry Green; two great-grandkids Laney and Cutter Martin; one brother, Lynn Hart of Clayton, NM; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Warren Hart.

Jon’s family expresses endless gratitude to Interim Healthcare Hospice and to Lindeana Dahl for their unfailing support and compassion, as well as to our incredible community, who has covered us in love and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the charity of your choice in Jon’s memory.
