Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer doesn't want to do 'business' with Charlie Sheen: 'He blew it up'

"I wish him the best, he should live in good health for the rest of his life, but I don’t know if I want to get in business with him for any length of time."

Nearly 15 years after Charlie Sheen was fired from the popular Two and a Half Men, series costar Jon Cryer revealed Friday on The View that he's not keen on working with his former colleague in a significant capacity any time soon.

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Cryer about the prospect of a Two and a Half Men reboot following Sheen's reported reconciliation with the minds behind the series, which ended in 2015 — the prospect of which the 58-year-old appeared to shoot down.

"Oh, gosh. I don't know how that happens. Charlie is doing a lot better now, which is wonderful. He and I have not spoken in a few years, but he's doing a lot better, which obviously I'm very happy about," Cryer said, noting that the show "fell apart" a bit amid Sheen's highly publicized troubles at the time. Sheen was let go from the sitcom in 2011, after making a string of statements referencing drug usage as well as criticizing CBS and Two and a Half Men producer Chuck Lorre.

Cryer said that, though Lorre and Sheen patched things up, Sheen's behavior still rocked the dynamic of the show's production, and he still feels the impact today.

"When Two and a Half Men was happening, Charlie was like, the highest-paid actor in television," Cryer continued. "Yet, he blew it up, so you kind of have to think. I love him, I wish him the best, he should live in good health for the rest of his life, but I don’t know if I want to get in business with him for any length of time."

He indicated, though, that he might be interested in "a one-off" situation, though he didn't elaborate beyond that.

EW has reached out to representatives for Sheen for comment.

Following Sheen's departure, Two and a Half Men continued for four additional seasons, with the series killing off the actor's character ahead of season 9. Cryer won two Emmys for his performance on the show, including one as a supporting actor prior to Sheen's exit, and one as the series' lead in Sheen's absence.

In 2020, Cryer told PeopleTV's Couch Surfing that he and Sheen had a great relationship at the start of the show, but things got complicated when he began using drugs.

"It was one of the first internet s---storms, plus there's the fact that all of our jobs are tied into this guy, and we're all his friends. It was very, very strange," Cryer said at the time. "[There were] aspects of it that I absolutely hated, but you know, I'm thankful for the years that were great."
