John B. Wheelwright

John Brooks Wheelwright (1897–1940) was an American poet and political activist. He was associated with the Boston Brahmin class and was known for his traditional verse forms and complex, intellectual poetry. Wheelwright was also a socialist and a member of the Socialist Party of America. His work includes the poetry collections 'Rock and Shell' (1933) and 'Political Self-Portrait' (1938). Tragically, his life was cut short when he was struck by a car and killed at the age of 43.
