John Travolta, celebrities react to Olivia Newton-John’s death

“Grease” star Olivia Newton-John died Monday morning surrounded by family and friends at her Southern California ranch following a long battle with cancer.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer,” her family wrote in a statement posted on her official Facebook page.

“Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

Upon her death, her family is asking that people donate to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund instead of sending flowers.

The last photo seen of the actress was posted by her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, on Instagram on Aug 5.

“I worship this woman. My mother. My best friend,” Lattanzi wrote.

Quickly after the news broke on Monday, John’s “Grease” co-star John Travolta made a statement on his Instagram.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better,” he captioned a young picture of the starlet.

“Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John,” Travolta concluded.

“Grease” director Randal Kleiser told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement that he’s “heartbroken” over the news.

“She was one of a kind, and so very kind. For over four decades of our friendship she exuded nothing but love to everyone she met. Olivia was exactly the way you imagined her. I will miss her forever,” Kleiser said.

“Too young to leave this world. May she RIP,” fellow icon Barbra Streisand wrote on Instagram.

“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, shared her condolences to the “brave” Newton-John.

“Very sad news,” she wrote. “Great admiration for how she bravely faced breast cancer. Condolences to her loving family and friends.”

Dionne Warwick tweeted her statement.

“Another angelic voice has been added to the Heavenly Choir,” she wrote. “Not only was Olivia a dear friend, but one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of recording and performing with. I will most definitely miss her. She now Rests in the Arms of the Heavenly Father.”

“Rest In Peace dearest Olivia,” tweeted “Lost” actor Titus Welliver.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” filmmaker James Gunn tweeted, “Really sad to hear about the passing of Olivia Newton-John. My first real crush as a kid.”

“I loved Grease & her music & I coincidentally also bought & lived in for a while the wonderful home she built in Malibu. May she Rest In Peace,” he continued.

“My heart is broken,” musician Richard Marx shared on Twitter with four pictures alongside Newton-John.

“Rest now, sweet friend. You were as kind and loving a person as there’s ever been. I’ll miss you every day,” he said.

Bravo host Andy Cohen honored Newton-John in an Instagram video. He said, “Hopelessly Devoted to YOU, Olivia Newton-John. Rest In Peace, Queen. Thank you for the music.”

Katie Couric attached a clip of the same performance alongside her tweet. “Rest In Peace, Olivia,” the broadcaster wrote.

“ ’Hopelessly devoted to you’ she sang,” journalist Geraldo Rivera added. “Sad to note passing of Olivia Newton John. We met during 2015 Celebrity Apprentice when she fabulously entertained. Wife Erica @elevrivera like many little girls was obsessed with Sandy the role Olivia played opposite John Travolta in Grease,” Rivera concluded.

“We have lost a great, iconic artist in Olivia Newton John, gone too soon from us at age 73, “Star Trek” actor George Takei wrote on Twitter. “I trust she is now in the great Xanadu beyond. Know that we are forever hopelessly devoted to you, Olivia. Rest in song and mirth,” he said.

“That’s it. I’m done guys,” actress Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted. “Heartbroken doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it. I ADORED her.”

I hate this so much. She was only 73,” she continued. “What is going on?!”

Actress Gabrielle Union gave her condolences, too.

“ ’Grease’ is my #1 movie of all time and made me a lifelong Olivia Newton-John fan,” she tweeted.

“Me and my sister watched Xanadu more times than I could count. Sending so much love and prayers to a real gift of a woman and talent,” Union wrote.

Funnywoman Kathy Griffin remembered Newton-John on Twitter by quote tweeting a clip of the ladies — plus Carson Kressley of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” — sipping tea over conversation.

“Olivia Newton-John rolled with EVERYTHING,” Griffin wrote.
