'Three's Company' Cast: Through The Years

Three's Company was a sitcom that ran for 8 seasons from 1977 until 1984. The show's plot revolved around three single roommates: "Janet Wood," "Chrissy Snow," and "Jack Tripper," who all live in an apartment in Santa Monica, California. Throughout the show, the gang is confronted with various social and financial struggles as well as the occasional hijinks!

At the very beginning of the show, "Stanley Roper" was the trio's landlord. He was portrayed as a somewhat hard-nosed individual who was known for regularly giving the three a hard time.

Norman Fell moved on to guest star in several different popular TV shows such as Murder, She Wrote, Magnum, P.I., Ellen, and Simon & Simon. He did later receive a Golden Globe for his performance in Three's Company which led him to even more success in the film industry. Fell sadly passed away in 1998 from bone marrow cancer.

"Helen Roper" is "Stanley Roper's" sexually-deprived wife with whom she shares a love-hate relationship. She is good friends with the three main characters and often tries to diffuse the tension between her husband and the trio.

After Three's Company, Audra Lindley starred in the spin-off series The Ropers in 1979, which, unfortunately, was not very successful. She also appeared in the movie Best Friends starring alongside Goldie Hawn and Burt Reynolds. Lindley passed away from leukaemia on Oct. 16, 1997 and was survived by her 5 children.

"Terri Alden" is a registered nurse and "Janet" and "Jack's" final roommate. At the beginning of their encounter, "Jack" wasn't very fond of "Terri" due to an incident with a tetanus shot, but the two quickly became good friends and she eventually moved in with "Jack" and "Janet."

Priscilla Barnes moved on to have a somewhat successful career after Three's Company. In 1982, Barnes starred in Aaron Spellings's The Wild Woman of Chastity Church. Her other appearances include Licence to Kill (1989), Lords Of The Deep (1989), and Mumford (1999). Barnes has been married to actor Ted Monte since 2003.

"Chrissy Snow" was the typical "dumb blonde" with exaggerated personality traits such as her girlish behaviour, confusion, and misunderstandings.

Suzanne Somers had a rather interesting career after she was fired from Three's Company due to a salary issue. Her involvement with Playboy magazine and her "Thighmaster" infomercials also show us that she was still a relevant figure in the TV business. Somers also starred in two other sitcoms: She's the Sheriff and Step by Step. She was last seen dancing on the popular show Dancing with The Stars back in 2015.

"Ralph Furley" is one of the owners of the Three's Company apartment building throughout the series. "Furley" is a self-proclaimed playboy, often considering himself a "lady's man," even though he is somewhat repulsive to women.

Don Knotts had his big break as "Barney Fife" in The Andy Griffith Show, a 1960s sitcom for which he earned five Emmy awards. His roles after Three's Company were rather sporadic with several different guest appearances in movies and shows like Big Bully (1996) and Ghost World (2001). Knotts was in a total of three marriages, with his most recent with Frances Yarborough lasting from 2002 until his passing in 2006. He is survived by his son and daughter, Thomas and Karen Knotts.

"Larry Dallas" lives upstairs from the trio and is "Jack's" best friend. He is portrayed as a womanizing playboy, often lying to women about his occupation and using false names to get them into bed.

Richard Kline starred in both spin-off shows of Three's Company: The Ropers and Three's A Crowd. Kline was also part of the cast of the first national tour of the play Wicked back in February 2010. His most recent appearances include Love, Weddings & Other Disasters in 2020 and in Blue Bloods, where he has a recurring role.

"Janet Wood" was one of the trio's original roommates. She worked at a flower shop throughout the series, which could be seen all over the apartment. "Janet" was also the more reliable roommate in comparison to her somewhat dimwitted roommate "Chrissy."

Joyce DeWitt took a long break from acting after her role in Three's Company. She returned to show business in 1995, starring in the comedy film Spring Fling and lending her voice to a 1997 episode of Pinky and The Brain. DeWitt also hosted the 2003 NBC TV show Behind The Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Three's Company. She later narrated a documentary for her charity organization called Street Signs: Homeless But Not Hopeless in 2018, and most recently acted in the 2019 film Savant.

"Jack Tripper" is a Santa Monica native and a former member of the United States Navy. During his search for a new place to stay, he stumbles upon "Janet Wood" and "Chrissy Snow's" apartment and quickly moves in with the two after the ladies convince their landlord "Stanley Roper" that "Jack" is gay, although this isn't true.

John Ritter became somewhat of a TV legend later on in his career. He was nominated for several awards four years in a row for his performance in the children's animated series Clifford The Big Red Dog (2001-2004). Ritter also won an Emmy Award for his role in Three's Company back in 1984 for Best Leading Actor as well as a Golden Globe. Last but not least, Ritter won a People's Choice Award for his role in Hooperman for Favorite Male Performer in 1988. He became ill during the production of 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter in 2003 and passed away on September 11th of that year.READ MORE: 'Hill Street Blues' - Cast Then & Now
