Professor Tony Fahey, Chair of the Board of Social Justice Ireland, said “I want to welcome John as CEO of SJI and I look forward to working with him.  The vision, energy and competence that he will bring to the role, coupled with the strengths of the existing staff team, open the way to a bright future for SJI.”

“The Board has developed a comprehensive transition plan to ensure not just that the work of SJI is maintained but that it is built upon and developed in the years ahead.  The Board will throw all its weight into supporting him and the staff in realising that future.” Professor Fahey added.

“With a basic degree in English and History and post-graduate degrees in Social Justice and Public Policy; and in Culture and Colonialism, as well as having worked both in Ireland and abroad, John is well qualified to guide SJI in these interesting and challenging times.” – Professor Fahey

John McGeady is currently working as Justice Officer with the OLA Sisters.  He has engaged with the EU and the UN on policy at various levels, with a special focus on human rights instruments.  He has been a member of Social Justice Ireland’s roundtable on migrations in our common home and is part of the organisation’s Budget Analysis team.

“We’re confident that John McGeady can guide this Think Tank into the future. I can think of no one better than John to lead SJI” – Margaret Hassett, SJI Board Vice-Chair.
