John F. Kennedy is a good school with amazing teachers. Kennedy has a lot of sports. However, the classroom could be more clean.
I have gone to John F. Kennedy High School for all my 4 years of High School and I have no complaints. It is an overall well rounded school with the best architecture program in the San Fernando Valley.
This year had lots of changes for everyone at my school. I think that caused my last experiences at this school to be harder than it should have been. The administration had some major changes and they are trying to fix the school to their liking. Some teachers are very dedicated to their jobs and make the lessons fun and inviting. As a swimmer, I would have liked to see a pool being prioritized. Recently, my school opened the opportunity for a paid internship through the school for the medical magnet students. I have spent the last two years learning under a medical professional and having the best time and improving my social skills.
It is a good school but you definitely need to self advocate. The administration doesn’t tell you much its all online and non collaborative, the school should be involved and engaging for students. They lack understanding and respect but expect students to gain these skills. The school from my experience does have good academic programs and opportunities just they don’t encourage students to use them to full potential and for real life experiences.
My overall experience at John F. Kennedy High School was pretty good. At this school there are multiple magnets, and I was able to experience 2 of them. My freshman year I was in the Medical Magnet, but in my sophomore thru senior year I was in the Global Leadership and Environmental Action Magnet (GLEAM), which opened my sophomore year. During my time in both magnets, GLEAM was defiantly a better fit for me. In this magnet we started a school garden, brought new AP classes to the campus, and the teachers make sure to check in with the students and cater to their needs. I would like to see the entire campus have the same morals and teaching philosophy as GLEAM so that all students at John F. Kennedy High School can experience the amazing impact GLEAM has.
Average school with mediocre administration but great teachers. School campus is under construction and the overall environment is below average.
Some kids are cool, others not. But great teachers overall. The staff is okay. The food is good enough. The environment is getting worse however.
The environment at John F. Kennedy High School is extremely welcoming and inclusive. Relations amongst students and staff are somewhat off putting, but despite that Kennedy is overall an amazing school.
Best teachers and awesome staff. I was at John F Kennedy for a semester and was amazed on how much my teachers wanted me to succeed and even stayed after hours at school just to help me. This was the best senior year I could have ever asked for.
It was good I enjoyed every moment and all memories. Amazing opportunity with sports medicine as well got to figure out what I will be majoring
Administrative changes kept me very confused alongside the very rushed senior events and lack of advance notice for senior events. Also several teachers that were involved with controversy, including some that were either fired or disappeared.
The best parts were that most of the teachers were really kind in giving extensions and being there for students supporting them. The not so great parts were the fact that the school is under construction.
I have met great people at this school, peers and teachers, who have taught me a lot. There are many opportunities for community service, for learning at a college level, and for being involved with other students at the school. As an African-American student, I have felt isolated at times. I was the Black person in majority of my classes. There is a big lack of racial diversity on campus. There are only about forty Black student compared to the hundreds of Latinx student at the school. There have been about three times when a hateful comment has been made based on my racial appearance.
I liked the opportunity and wide range in education but dislike that there are no connections made with students or teachers.
The Marching band at Kennedy is fantastic. The people at Kennedy are kind and unique. I would like to see changes in the lines for lunch. Both the cafeteria line and the student store line. Another cool thing about Kennedy is the colleagues you meet along the way. A majority of us get along very well. We all help each other out in many different ways.
John F. Kennedy was a very mellow experience. The staff is pretty genuine. The students that attend make it somewhat feel like a community. It may not be the best environment that some would prefer.
Some teachers should not have a teaching license. Staff is immature just like the students. I do like the resources and programs they provide. There’s a lot of help you can get on preparing for college and grants, etc.
