John Dewey High School Reviews

The best part of my experience was creating relationships that I will cherish forever between my classmates and the administrators, the opportunities are endless at John Dewey and the amount of things to do at John Dewey is endless because there is always some club or after school program for everyone wether it is sports, gardening, knitting, oragami, etc.
My experience at JDHS has been amazing. Being the first freshman class entering during the Covid lockdown I was impressed with the fluid and dynamic manner in which the school was able to accommodate students with laptops and made the transition to online learning as easy as possible, before transferring to In-Person learning and without skipping a beat it felt easy to continue with my classes. My teachers are some of the best mentors and have influenced me a great deal by guiding me to many internships and clubs that I am still a part of today.
I think that anyone wanting to attend John Dewey HS will come away with the best experience and will be ready for college. I will truly miss my teachers when I leave for college this year but I know being an alumni I would be back as often as possible. I enjoyed the growth I saw in myself from being a shy kid to volunteering as as a student representative hosting open night. There are so many opportunities at JDHS

Being able to increase my knowledge and learn something new every day was one of my favorite aspects. Learning about new topics and pursuing interests was also fun. Regarding the negative aspects, I would add that meeting deadlines and test stress might be difficult at times. However, all in all, I enjoyed the experience and the friendships I formed during my time in high school. Some things i would like to see change is if assignments and deadlines were better organized and timed. When things accumulate and it becomes difficult to keep track of everything, it can get overwhelming. Second, it would be very beneficial if students, educators, and parents could all communicate clearly and consistently. It's critical that everyone has access to the latest information and is aware of critical updates and activities.
