‘Outstanding’ Liverpool player was spotted back running, he could return sooner than expected

Liverpool had an ‘outstanding’ player spotted back in training yesterday, and it now seems he could be back sooner than expected.

If there is one thing that is going to halt Jurgen Klopp in his tracks in his endeavour to win the Premier League and the Europa League, it’s injuries. Liverpool have been ravaged by injuries throughout the season.

Although things are a little bit better at the moment. With the likes of Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch set to return to training and Trent Alexander-Arnold not far away, there are still some injury concerns at the club.

It is still not known when Diogo Jota or Alisson Becker will return to training. Both have been out for over a month now, and Jurgen Klopp has given few updates regarding their fitness to journalists. However, the Liverpool boss was spotted talking to fans about the latest injury news at the AXA training centre. Meanwhile, another ‘outstanding’ Liverpool player was also spotted back running.

What Jurgen Klopp said about Alisson and where Joel Matip was spotted

Yesterday, some Liverpool supporters were given a tour of the AXA training centre while Jurgen Klopp and some of his players were in attendance. The Liverpool boss actually stopped to talk to the fans and gave an update on the fitness of some of his players.

Klopp revealed for example, that Alisson was still two and a half to three weeks away from returning from injury. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota was also back running.

There was more positive news about the potential return of Joel Matip into the fray. He was spotted in a post shared on X to be running at the AXA training turf. Which seems to be great news considering there are still two months left of the season, and he was not expected to return before the end of the season.

Now perhaps, Matip, whose contract will expire at the end of the season, may be able to get the send off he deserves. Once lauded by Garth Crooks as ‘outstanding’, Matip has been a great servant for Liverpool, and while it’s unlikely his contract is extended by the club, it would be great to see him in a red shirt one final time.
