Leeds have a great chance of signing ‘underrated’ Tottenham man alongside Joe Rodon in summer

Leeds United are fully expected to complete the permanent signing of Joe Rodon from Tottenham next summer if the club are promoted, and may even do so if they fail to go up. But there could be another.

Graeme Bailey reported to LeedsUnited.News that no matter what division Leeds are in, it is expected that the Whites would complete a permanent deal to sign Rodon from Spurs. Promotion will obviously help.

But he might not be the only player Leeds sign from Tottenham in the summer. The connection between the clubs is strong. Jack Clarke moving to Spurs, Rodon and Djed Spence joining on loan this season.

Gretar Steinsson left Tottenham for Leeds in the summer, joining the transfer department at Elland Road. Leeds meanwhile, need a left-back. An issue that has troubled Leeds for a number of years, since 2017.

Leeds desperately need a left-back come the summer

Charlie Taylor left for Burnley and plenty have come and gone since, unable to fill the void. So, it is likely to be a priority come the summer – especially, if Leeds gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Back in January, it was claimed that Leeds were making moves to sign Ben Davies from Tottenham. But, a move did not materialise. Come the summer, there is a chance “underrated” Davies could be leaving.

Indeed, there are a number of reasons. Firstly, why he could leave Spurs. His contract will expire in the summer of 2025, and he has fallen down the pecking order. Just two league outings for Spurs in 2024.

Ange Postecoglou has said he wants to sign a new centre-back at Spurs. That will see him fall down the order even further and Tottenham will surely be open to the Wales star’s exit, if the price is right.

Why might Davies want to join Leeds this summer?

Well, he has said that Rodon is one of his best friends. Leeds also boast numerous Wales talents too – Ethan Ampadu, Dan James on a permanent basis, Rodon and Connor Roberts on loan. He’d start, too.

It would be a wonderful signing for Leeds but in financial terms, Leeds would have to get promoted to do a deal. He won’t cost much in terms of transfer fee, but his wage would be high. Leeds need to go up.

But if they do, then you would say that Leeds are as best-positioned as they can be to make a deal happen for the defender. One to watch come the summer, but a move that surely suits all aprties.
