Celtic news: This is when Joe Hart could quit after what expert has seen

Joe Hart won’t be Celtic number one next season – expert

Joe Hart won’t be number one at Celtic next season.

That’s according to former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Hart’s future at the club.

The 35-year-old has been number one at Parkhead since his arrival last summer.

The shot stopper has made 21 appearances for the Celts so far this season and has kept six clean sheets in those outings.

The former Man City man will have a year left on his contract at the end of the season.

In the summer, Ange Postecoglou’s side confirmed the signing Benjamin Siegrist from Dundee United.

The Swiss keeper put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Celts.

When asked if Celtic will offer Hart a contract extension, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think Joe has got bags of experience.

He has got a year, he will not do anything rash or stupid. I think Siegrist will be number one.

At this moment in time Joe Hart has not done anything wrong to give that up. But he knows next year things can change.

Joe will get a team anywhere but if he wants to be number two at Celtic next year then I am sure they will give him another contract because he is one hell of a backup and he will be a backup next year.

He is a damn good keeper and the competition is great. Joe has stepped up to the mark.
