Marjorie Taylor Greene Praises AOC, Calls Republicans Who Voted for Biden Plan 'Traitors'

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has appeared to praise Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and five other progressive Democrats who voted against a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package late on Friday.

Greene, a Republican who represents Georgia's 14th congressional district, took to Twitter following the vote and offered strong criticism for 13 of her Republican colleagues who supported the bill.

The Democrat-led House passed the bipartisan infrastructure framework by a vote of 228 to 206 following an agreement between Democratic moderates and progressives on a procedural vote to advance consideration of the separate Build Back Better Act.

Greene sent several tweets aimed at those 13 Republican members of the House and began by writing: "Republicans who hand over their voting card to Nancy Pelosi to pass Biden's Communist takeover of America will feel the anger of the GOP voter."

She then referred to them as "8 Traitors" before correcting her figure and describing them as the "unlucky 13."

"Here are the 'Republicans' that just voted to help Biden screw America," Greene tweeted, sharing a photo of a list showing the Republicans who voted "yes."

"But 6 Democrats did more than these 13 traitor Republicans to stop Biden's fake Infrastructure bill by voting NO," she said, listing Ocasio-Cortez along with the five other progressive Democrats.

"They have more balls than these R's," the Georgia congresswoman wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat who represents New York's 14th district, voted against passing the bill as did some other progressives in the House, including "Squad" members Representative Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

Progressives had sought to link passage of the bipartisan plan with progress for a separate social spending and infrastructure bill known as the Build Back Better Act. However, there have been strong divisions within the Democratic Party on the second bill, with the proposed $3.5 trillion price tag reduced to $1.75 trillion.

Moderates including Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) have also objected to some measures in the Build Back Better Act such as plans to address climate change and expanding social spending.

Greene continued her criticism of GOP members who voted for the bill and referred to recent elections, likely making reference to Republican Glenn Youngkin's victory in the Virginia governor's race that was seen as a blow to Democrats.

"On Tuesday, the American people rejected the Democrats platform and by Friday Republican traitors locked arms with Nancy Pelosi to pass Joe Biden's communist takeover of America," she tweeted.

"Your voters will send you the same message they sent Democrats on Tuesday," Greene wrote and later shared a full list of the Republicans who approved the bill.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill was agreed with the White House by a group of senators from both parties and passed in the Senate in August with some Republican support. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell voted in favor of the bill.
