Juventus to rival Spurs & West Ham for World Cup star Joakim Maehle

Juventus are reportedly keeping tabs on Denmark international Joakim Maehle, with Tottenham and West Ham also believed to be interested in signing the Atalanta superstar.

According to Tuttosport, the 25-year-old right-back is one of numerous fullbacks Juventus are watching at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Maehle’s profile in Serie A growing after signing for Atalanta back in 2021, where the Dane has become a regular with the Bergamo side.

Juventus are not alone, though, in their interest in signing Maehle. Italian outlet Calcio Atalanta have previously claimed that both Tottenham and West Ham are also chasing the defender, with the Irons, in particular, keen on bringing the defender to the English capital.

A regular for Atalanta and a starter for Denmark at the World Cup this November, Maehle’s stock has risen considerably in the past few months, with the defender believed to be worth at least £15m. Though there is every chance that this transfer value can increase ahead of the January window.

The news from Turin will come as a blow for the likes of Tottenham and West Ham, though. Indeed, Juventus’ need to sign a right-back could easily see the Serie A giants move for Maehle, who after this World Cup could become a prime target for the Italian side in January.

Moreover, given Juventus’ reputation to hoover up all the best talents in the division, Maehle seems like a realistic target for the Turin-based club. Especially if Tottenham or West Ham fail to follow through on their interest in the Danish international in the winter window.

Denmark are many pundits tip for a dark horse in the 2022 World Cup. And for Maehle, a strong run in the competition could result in Juventus coming in for the Scandinavian superstar, much to the dismay of both Tottenham and West Ham.

After all, both Premier League sides could do with a new star right-back in their squad. And Maehle could have been perfect for either club given his quality and his potential, with the defender still nowhere near as good as he good become given his age.
