Tottenham told to splash £60m on signing Joao Palhinha from Fulham after Spurs insider reveal

John Wenham wants Tottenham to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha instead of Amadou Onana amid a recent transfer reveal.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is not the biggest fan of Everton’s Onana and would rather Tottenham focus on Palhinha.

It comes after reliable Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe revealed via X (10 April) that Onana has been identified as a player that Ange Postecoglou’s side are keen on.

The Toffees would reportedly want around £60million for Onana (via Sport, 18 April) and Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that this is not a move Spurs should entertain.

“Onana is far too inconsistent as a player, and I would rather Tottenham didn’t sign him,” Wenham said.

“I would rather we went out and signed a player like Palhinha, who would elevate our midfield to the next level.

“He is a more sensible option, someone who would deliver eight out of 10 every single week.

“Every time I watch him play for Fulham I am impressed, and I would rather we put £60million toward him.”

Tottenham could move to the next level by signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha

Palhinha has been in sensational form this season and is a much more established player than Onana.

As per the Premier League’s Official Website, the Fulham ace leads the way in England’s top flight this season in terms of the number of tackles he has made (130).

He has been one of the league’s most impressive midfielders for a couple of seasons now, and signing him would be a real statement of intent from Postecoglou and Spurs.

While he is significantly older than Onana, he would bring a level of experience and level-headedness which Spurs’ midfield could benefit from, and would represent a much more ambitious signing than Onana.
