Career
After his college graduation, Jimmi Simpson spent four seasons at the ‘Williamston Theatre Festival’ in Massachusetts to hone his acting skills. He entered the entertainment industry with a small role in the 2000 film ‘Loser’. Due to his memorable performance and quirky style in ‘Loser’, he was soon cast in numerous television shows, including ‘NYPD Blue’ (2003) and ‘D.E.B.S’ (2004). His major break came when he was cast in the cult classic sitcom ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ (2005-2013), and his amazing performance made him a household name. In his two decades long career, he has portrayed a number of hyperintelligent but often weird characters, which earned him the moniker of ‘Hollywood’s Favorite Creep’.
A major high came in Jimmi Simpson’s acting career in 2007, when he gave an outstanding performance in his Broadway debut ‘The Farnsworth Invention’. His work earned him a ‘Theatre World Award’ in 2008. He further established himself as an actor by appearing in critically-acclaimed films like ‘Zodiac’ (2007) and ‘The Invention of Lying’ (2009). These roles were only a gateway to bigger roles on television like ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ (2008-2009), ‘Breakout Kings’ (2011-2012), and ‘West World’ (2016-2018). Jimmi Simpson was born as James Raymond Simpson on November 21, 1975, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, United States. His father was a businessman, while his mother was a homemaker. He was the youngest of three brothers. He was raised in Hackettstown, where he went to ‘Hackettstown High School’. He graduated from the ‘Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’ with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre. Jimmi started dating English actress Sophia Del Pizzo in 2017 and got married to her in April 2019. Earlier, he met actress Melanie Lynskey on set of ‘Rose Red’ in 2001 and started dating her. After two years’ engagement, they got married on April 14, 2007, in Queenstown, New Zealand. However, Melanie filed for a divorce on September 25, 2012, which was finalized on May 23, 2014.
