Shamy returns! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik reunite in first look at Young Sheldon finale 

It all started with a big bang… So why not end with one too?

To send off the beloved prequel series Young Sheldon, CBS is calling upon the stars of the show that started it all: The Big Bang Theory.

Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will share the screen again for the first time since the OG series concluded in May 2019. While details of the on-screen couple’s reunion have been largely kept under wraps, we now have our first look at Shamy reunited.

Apparently, future Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler are still enjoying domestic bliss and keeping quite busy. Preview photos see Sheldon hard at work in front of his laptop, with Amy peering curiously over his shoulder. Could it be that the entire prequel series has Sheldon typing up his memoirs?

When the duo were last on screen together, Sheldon and Amy won the Nobel Prize in physics. This was one of many big milestones for the couple throughout their multi-season relationship. Since then, Young Sheldon has featured Parsons as the narrator of every single episode while Bialik has occasionally guest starred in voiceover form. 

The final episode will mark the duo's first on-camera return as their characters. Of reprising their roles together, Parsons told Today that the experience was “very weird” but “beautiful.”

He explained, “It was really sweet. It felt like the nicest little coda to the whole experience, and I was very grateful that they asked us to do it."

Beginning in 2016, Young Sheldon followed Iain Armitage as the adolescent version of Parsons' Big Bang Theory protagonist. The kid genius enjoyed many ups and downs as a child prodigy in '80s and '90s East Texas, but had the support of his family through it all. The series also stars Emily Osment, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Zoe Perry, Annie Potts, and Lance Barber.

The network announced that following the end of the prequel series, The Big Bang Theory universe will expand with yet another series: a Young Sheldon spinoff centering Georgie Cooper (Jordan) and his wife, Mandy (Osment) as they raise their family in Texas. 

Young Sheldon is currently airing its seventh and final season, which will conclude with back-to-back episodes on May 16.
