Amazing food and outstanding service. Our group of 5 1/2 went to Jesse’s on Saturday night about 6:00pm with no reservations(not suggested). We had been in Fairhope all day and decided to go back to Pensacola on Hwy 98. Along the way we decided to...try Jesse’s. It took a few minutes but the staff got us seated. While we were waiting I noticed everyone that came in had reservations so we were very thankful to get a table. Jacqueline our server was exceptional. She was very professional and knew every part of the menu. The appetizers, entrees and desserts were phenomenal. We will definitely go there again and make reservations ahead of time.More

This could be a 5 star and as it is our lunch at 2 PM was superb. We split the Whiskey Steak (8 oz each medium rare) and split the Garlic Mashed potatoes. In addition, we ordered a side of Gouda Grits (excellent btw )....Everything tasted very good and was cooked to order. My wife said the steak was cooked as we ordered but I would have liked it a bit warmer in the center but that is largely debatable. The steak outer surface was perfect and delectable. I like grits and they were excellent. The Gouda cheese taste was subtle and mixed well with the other food. The garlic mashed potatoes had a heavy garlic taste and since we both like garlic they were perfect. A few more grilled vegetables would have made the meal over the top. The meal arrived in a timely manner and was faster than we expected. Perhaps this was because the server put the order in and then we ordered the drinks, an IPA for me and Lemon Drop Martini for her (she said it was sweet and syrupy at the bottom) The server and service was excellent and we enjoyed the view outside of the trees and the sunshine. Time passed quickly in this pleasant environment. Our bill with tip was about $65. We will return to this excellent restaurant.More

This place may not look like much as you drive up but it certainly has character. We walked inside and were greeted by a very friendly hostess who told us some of the history of the restaurant as we were first time customers. Our server...was very attentive. We were here on a weekday for lunch so not terribly busy. The menu had so many great choices, it was hard to pick. We each had a glass of wine. I had the petite filet mignon which was excellent and prepared exactly as ordered. My husband had a burger which also was cooked to perfection and flavor was awesome. We enjoyed our visit here and will be back.More

Our steaks were overcooked and the Gouda grits were cool, gelatinous and the entire serving could be lifted off the plate with a fork. This was my Mother’s 94th birthday celebration with out of town family and I did not feel it was the appropriate...time to complain to the server and send our meals back. The bill was almost $300 and extremely disappointing. We have been to Jess’s many times which is why it is always our first choice for a special dinner out, but this meal was certainly not up to their usual excellence.More

We live near Jesse's and have been several times. For a high end restaurant on our anniversary we were rather disappointed in our visit. Let me review the food first. We felt all the food on that night was rather bland. The scallops would be...an example. The filet was truly magnificent, but the rest was not what we expected from a $250 bill. Items like the asparagus and other vegetables were over-cooked. The desserts were fine. The most disappointing thing was the way we felt totally rushed to get finished. No fewer than 4 employees at different times came by as we finished grabbing plates, telling us "we hope you enjoyed it" and hurrying our payment. While I recognize that it is a very busy night and they stacked reservations one upon another, we decided this was our last night time visit. Our waiter was nice as we sat down and gave some history but he was not diligent in keeping wine or water filled as the night went on. For comparison sake we went to another high end place last year in Mobile and were pleasantly surprised at the food and service on such a busy night(Yea, I know, New Year's Eve is not a great night for an anniversary) I had hesitated to write this and decided to wait to review after I had cooled off a bit. Still for the price paid this was at best average.More

Have heard a lot about this restaurant from neighbors since we moved here last year but w/Covid, we haven't gone out to eat since the move. So after a year&w/our 12 yr anniv coming up, we went for it. Service and staff couldn't have been...better but dining area(back room w/no decor) was VERY loud. Not great for a romantic dinner. Hubby order lamb chops medium rare except there was no medium...jelly in middle. He should have sent them back, but hates to do that. We told&showed our server the lamb. Anyway, we were disappointed. Glad I didn't order a steak medium rare.More

Sat Feb 27. We had bragged about how good Jesse's was to Nashville friends. Drove over for dinner from the Grand Hotel. We were seated at about 7:30. Everyone ordered within about 15 minutes of seating. At about 9 or so the waiter told us...my steak (a bone in filet) was delaying the entire diner but it would be out soon. 15 minutes later or so, the diner arrived and mybone in filet went back immediately. It was grossly overcooked. The manager apologized and made amens. A replacement ribeye was cooked immediately. Overall, the dinner was a huge disappointment. Our friends were completely unimpressed. Our subsequent dinner the next night at Camillia's in Fairhope was exceptional. We are re-thinking Jesse's and perhaps will leave it to it's loyal locals.More

One of the best restaurants in a 50 mile radius. It's professionally managed, always well staffed and the food never disappoints. They serve dishes that are unique and unavailable at other local restaurants. Very good meals and always consistent quality.

We have been to Jesse's a few times and have had great experiences in the past. Not so much this time. We made reservations about two weeks ago for a special birthday dinner; and when the time came for us to be seated, they put...us in a table at the bar instead of the restaurant itself. It was loud and not special at all; this is where they seat people without reservations; so what was the point in making a reservation at all. We had a member of our party with celiac disease, and when we asked our server, Sean, about whether a specific dish had wheat in it, he literally told us, "I only get paid $4 an hour, and that is not enough to know about gluten." That kind of glib reaction to a medical condition set a bad tone for the rest of our dinner. Next time we will just ask the chef to come out, bc I am sure he would have had a much more gracious reaction. The appetizers we had were good; the oysters Jesse and mussels were especially good. The salads were great as well-- the beet salad and the mixed green house salad. Two in our party ordered seafood and were very pleased. Two ordered steaks. The waiter brought out a fried dish to the person who could not have wheat; absolutely not what he had ordered. He had ordered a steak. So, we had to wait while it was prepared and it arrived well after everyone else's meal. The ribeye when it arrived was not cooked well and seemed to be an inferior cut that one would expect from such a lauded establishment. Dessert was not worth mentioning.More

I've eaten at Jesse's dozens of times over the past 10 years or so, and I can't remember the last time I wrote a bad review about anything. This is the second time in the past couple of years we've had a similar problem so...I feel compelled. The first was a couples dinner where we had still not been served entrees 3 hours after sitting down and one couple had to leave with food in a box to relieve their babysitter. You can absolutely have a great meal here, and given our area that's a rare thing to be able to say. Last night was an absolute disaster. Went for a Monday birthday dinner with my two tweens in tow. Seated fairly quickly with reservations, ordered drinks and apps that came out promptly and were delicious. We ordered the rest of our meal when the apps came out and then sat for (I'm not embellishing) 60 minutes before we were served our salads and bread. Another 45 minutes still without entrees. We asked about 40 minutes in if they could please just bring out the kids meals (simple pasta noodles) and an hour later that still hadn't arrived. The waitress came over privately and apologized saying "I'm so sorry this is absolutely ridiculous and there's nothing I can do", so it's clear the issue is kitchen and management. Manager came out and said it will just be 3-4 minutes as we were debating leaving, 30! minutes later still nothing and no visits from staff. Asked to put our food in boxes as we had been waiting over 2 hours on a Monday night after our order was made. They took half off the bill (still paid over 100 dollars) and got home to find 3 items missing and the basically raw steak and fish below. It ended up in the garbage which is how we were treated. Ruined our birthday dinner and sadly after over a decade of support we'll never be back. I wouldn't be writing a public review but to not even give a clear explanation for what was wrong, to not get the children a bowl of pasta if there was some huge delay / kitchen issue with main entrees even after being asked, and to still have the audacity to charge us when we're walking out gives a very clear impression of the management's quality.More

Wanted something new, different and special and Jesse's hit the right note on all three. I took my nephew for his high school graduation and he would be leaving for Army basic training the following week. It is about an hour away from where I...live but it was definitely worth the drive. The menu changes from day to day and offers a nice variety of foods to try. My nephew and I had the sweet potato gnocchi that came with a chipotle bacon dip that was so scrumptious. I had a classic caesar salad, also very good. Our entrees were the Filet and the Dry Aged Delmonico Ribeye. I had garlic mashed potatoes with the filet and my nephew had the parmesan risotto with his ribeye. The server removed empty plates. We enjoyed every bite!! For dessert my nephew ordered their Tiramisu. I usually do not like to it eat but he insisted that I try it and I almost took it from him. Usually the espresso flavor is more than I can stand but theirs is so subtle and light and very yummy. I highly recommend and can't wait to go again to try something completely different. The chef has done a superb job all around. Please try this place, it will not dissappoint.More

I will say service was slow, but the outstanding quality of our meals more than made up for it. Best filet I’ve ever had!More

This was not a night out for dinner, this was a genuine experience from all aspects. A special thank you to our waiter Roy for his attention to detail. Not only from his knowledge of the wonderful food but also his knowledge of the restaurants...history. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful food, the scallops were so tender and sweet. My husband's steak was cooked just as he requested. The Oysters Jesse had a wonderful smoky flavor that brought back memories of oysters steamed on the fire pit at my husband's grandfather's home. If you are hungry for steak in seafood country, Jesses is a good choice. They have a good selection of steaks and a variety of other items. Our steaks were cooked just right and the sides were delicious. I highly recommend the crab dip as...an appetizer. However, the outdoor dining experience was just not good. It is a lovely spot, though close to the road. We were the first table seated outdoors on a Tuesday. It was a warm evening and the couple seated next to us after about 30 minutes asked that a very large standing fan be turned “up”. It was on a low setting. I was seated behind the fan with the motor right above my head. It was obnoxious. I asked the waiter if he could turn it down but he declined saying the couple was too warm. I spent the rest of our leisurely dinner asking our party to repeat things. Also, at our table there was an occasional whiff of sewer odor. So. Not a “fan” of their patio space and disappointed in how they handled my discomfort. Sit inside.More
